California: some modest proposals for gun control

Some of the statements at that press conference made by legislators are wrong, some of it hasn't actually been introduced as a bill yet, and it appears some of the reporting (Reddit) is wrong, for instance:I don't think anyone actually mentioned a 500 round ammo purchase limit. I didn't watch...

    A Pro-Rights Redditor Attends a Meeting of Anti-Gun Activists

That's a good point about facts not working on people who use Comic Sans as a serious font. I used to work for a company that used Comic Sans for business communication, but it was an ice cream company, so a light-hearted font was more acceptable.

"Nobody is coming to get your guns"

Not that I think this guy knows what he's talking about and I know Roe are often hunted with 223... but for the same kinetic energy, a heavy and slow bullet causes less tissue damage (if greater penetration) than a light and fast bullet.

    This buying frenzy is rediculous

My guess, considering that national opinion on guns is less anti-gun than it was in 1994 and that was a disaster for Democrats, is that nothing will pass Congress, and no sweeping bans will get signed by executive order (maybe an import ban at most). But for those of us in states where the...

    SF Bay Area CCW

No, it is essentially correct, and I am surprised anyone with knowledge would call it "total BS." During that home invasion shootout in Alamo a few years back, it was reported that the homeowner had a CCW from Rupf, and said it was given as sort of a "thank you" to big contributors of a...

    CASE DISMISSED!!! Matt Corwin

k_dawg, this is great. Two years ago, there were no new legal ARs in California. Know how we got them in here? CalGuns.net. Then one of our own gets busted for it, turned in by his "progressive" classmates, busted by ignorant cops and DAs. But CalGuns.net puts up the money, and we get him...

California gov't seizes 500 legal ARs

Update: The 219 lowers just got returned to the FFL. :) And it has only been two years--they had a whole year left before the statute of limitations ran out and they would have been legally forced to return them, how nice of them. http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/showthread.php?t=79348

    CASE DISMISSED!!! Matt Corwin

$43,300.30. I believe about $8,000-$10,000 is yet to be paid. Matt's fellow Calguns.net board members have footed the majority of the bill. It was something like a dozen felony charges mostly for his various guns and knives which all added up. So a typical gun enthusiast will get the same...

    CASE DISMISSED!!! Matt Corwin

Or if anyone wants to read a single thread on this board, try the one I started: http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?t=273711 Long story short: A college student posted MySpace pics of himself with Cal-legal ARs, someone at his college saw this and notified the cops, and Matt got raided...

Security "expert": Pepper spray can take down 5-10 men at a time

A personal security "expert" (Robert Siciliano -- he seems to get a lot of media appearances) says using a deadly weapon is a bad idea, and that he recommends pepper spray. He says it can take down 5-10 men at a time, at 2 minutes and 30 seconds into the video...

    Authenticity of video game weapons?

As someone who has shot firearms with both the ATN and BSA red dots mentioned, I can say that (1) the first one is NOT the ATN, but looks like that "Famous Marker" (never heard of it before, but it looks right), and (2) the second one IS the BSA. Both the ATN and BSA are pieces of worthless...

    KTOrdinance Civil Judgement is in.

The statute of limitations is the normal limit, since most people waive their right to a speedy trail in order to give their lawyer more time. That is what the State of California's Bureau of Firearms is doing with the 219 AR-15 lowers from the Milpitas bust nearly two years ago. It is a BS...

    KTOrdinance Civil Judgement is in.

Liberty Dollars on the KT website Am I mis-remembering, or did KT used to accept payment in Liberty Dollars? I seem to remember that you'd end up paying something like10-20% more if you used the Liberty Dollar route, because one Liberty Dollar cost like a buck ten of twenty in legal tender.
