    New to Concealed Carry

As a rule-of-thumb: Carry the largest caliber you can shoot accurately.

    New to Concealed Carry

I've heard it said "Special Agents prefer Sigs but Purchasing Agents prefer Glocks".

On the subject of rails on handguns, who uses them?

All my pistols came with rails but I don't use them. I prefer to hold a flash light away from my body instead of having it under the pistol in effect saying "shoot here". A rail-mounted laser would be a good idea for learning trigger control, IMHO :) Rob

Why do I keep shooting left?

Hi Sky, I posted this a while back. It's a graph at ShooterReady.net with "Causes" and "Solutions" for each area on the graph. Hope it helps.

    Hiking holster/fannypack.

I use a fannypack that I purchased from REI. It has two compartments, I put my Sig229 .40 cal. plus a spare mag in the back compartment. I can put snacks, tools, whatever in the front compartment. There is a side water bottle holder, plus a mesh screen in front for other thinner items. I think...

    Gun Belt

I wear a $7.99 belt from Fleet Farm. It is just a plain black belt--nothing fancy. That way it doesn't attract any notice. If you are having back problems, are you sure it's due to the belt? It more likely has to due with the position you're forcing your spine into while you are carrying.

    Replacement grips for a Glock-17 ?

I have a new Glock-17 and I love it--except....the grip gets uncomfortable after a while. I've seen decal and HOGUE grips on the web, are there other options? Which would you recommend? Thanks :)

    Gifting handguns to children

I believe gifting is a good idea. I have gifted my son a Glock17 G4 9mm. Until he is 21, I have control of it. But as far as shooting, care, and maintenance goes it is his.

question for uspsa and idpa shooters out there

I find that my shots drift to the side if I use too much strength in my strong hand. When shooting with both hands, I hold the pistol 80-20. 80% of the aiming is done with my weak hand. The strong hand holds about 20% and I focus on pressing the trigger strait back. I have created a website...

    CCW and sitting

I carry a Sig229 .40 in a DeSantis IWB at 1 O'Clock. Any other position on my waste would be uncomfortable in the car, and possibly print. When I'm on vacation, or site-seeing I use a small fanny pack that I carry in the 2 O'Clock position. I usually have a brochure, ticket, receipt etc. in...

    Target Analysis Guide

Handgun Target Analysis for all to see Oops, my bad. I have removed the security from the page. Anyone going to the link (Handgun Target Analysis) should be able to see the diagram and the associated Cause/Solution tips. BTW, I have found this guide to be useful for two-handed shooters.

    Consistently shooting 1.5" right

Adjust your trigger finger Hi Progmr, Experiment with where your trigger finger is on the trigger. 1. make sure you are pressing strait back, our natural tendency is to press the trigger with a slight curve. 2. If you place the trigger within the fold between the first & second bones of your...

    10mm vs Bear

If you are hunting for bear, you may want to be "loaded for bear" as the expression goes. IMHO Invest in something like a .44 magnum or bigger if you'll be hunting for bear regularly.
