As a rule-of-thumb: Carry the largest caliber you can shoot accurately.

I've heard it said "Special Agents prefer Sigs but Purchasing Agents prefer Glocks".

All my pistols came with rails but I don't use them. I prefer to hold a flash light away from my body instead of having it under the pistol in effect saying "shoot here". A rail-mounted laser would be a good idea for learning trigger control, IMHO :) Rob

I wear a $7.99 belt from Fleet Farm. It is just a plain black belt--nothing fancy. That way it doesn't attract any notice. If you are having back problems, are you sure it's due to the belt? It more likely has to due with the position you're forcing your spine into while you are carrying.

If you are hunting for bear, you may want to be "loaded for bear" as the expression goes. IMHO Invest in something like a .44 magnum or bigger if you'll be hunting for bear regularly.
