Hiking holster/fannypack.

I am having a really hard time finding a fannypack for hiking. I want something that will hold other stuff too, like water bottles, etc. Any suggestions?

Don't know about fanny pack, but there is a holster out there that carries spare mags right in the holster, is carried on the belt, AND completely CC's your pistol...

Since I carry my G30 mostly when hiking, I had a hard time finding the "right" holster. I ended up getting a DeSantis Gunny Sack(med/black) and the damn thing works great. In the woods it doesn't look out of place or goofy it protects the weapon from sweat, dirt, water and cosmetic damage. The sack is also versatile, putting the gun front, side, small of the back or even hanging off the pack. It has plenty of room for "other" stuff too. For your H20 bottle get a belt loop carrier and it'll fit right on the Gunny sack belt.

I use a fannypack that I purchased from REI. It has two compartments, I put my Sig229 .40 cal. plus a spare mag in the back compartment. I can put snacks, tools, whatever in the front compartment. There is a side water bottle holder, plus a mesh screen in front for other thinner items. I think it cost me about $30 bucks.

The nice thing about it is it IS a back packer fanny pack. It has the REI logo on it. There's no way someone would guess I'm carrying.

Mine is a fanny pack from some business logo on it, It is med sized and has 3 compartments heavy nylon and good zippers. It raises no eyebrows.

Another vote for the Safepacker. I have had mine for several year's and it has been a constant companion while hiking, canoeing or camping with the family. It also goes on every family vacation. Since it doesn't look like a holster, I have walked into hotel lobbies carrying it and no one is the wiser!

I used to have a gunny sack and carried my S&W 439 in it to work. Removed it and used the fanny pack at work then replaced the gun on the way home. After 2-3 years the velcro wore out-Desantis replaced for free. I gave the Pack to my son for his glock 22 when I sold the 439. I now use revolvers and find walmart fanny packs work well. Just need to use a nylon holster in conjunction with to keep down wear and tear of fanny pack, and to keep the gun in a proper position for grasping quickly,

Safepacker for backpacking

I just spent a couple of days in the Sky Lakes Wilderness with a S&W M&P 45c and one spare mag in a Safepacker, and I was very happy with it. The Safepacker has a large, adjustable loop that allows you to actually put it on your backpack's waist belt and I didn't even notice it was there. It looks like a camera case or just a handy little pouch that could hold anything, and no one we passed or talked to even seemed to notice it. You can also get it with a shoulder strap to make it into sort of a man-purse if you want to carry it around separately, although I have an inexpensive little no-weight yaqui-style holster that I use for carrying it around in camp. Admittedly the Safepacker is a bit slow to access due to the snap (seems like there ought to be a better way to engineer that), but it's not too bad and it's certainly not conspicuous.

Tommys gun[ack is my choice for carry if I don`t need to carry water. The Maxpedition Jumbo pack comes with a bottle.
