I guess it all depends on what you are going to use the gun for. In a high stress situation I cannot imagine using any snubby for a 50 yard shot. For shooting at paper or animals I would definately get something that is SA capable. We try to simulate high stress situations followed by gun...
THis is a snub nose gun which most of us, I would imagine, do not plan to use at longer ranges. It is generally meant for closer ranges in a self defense senerio. It is also nice because it is simple to use and requires very little thought in a self defense senerio - pull the trigger and it...
Some of these are stamped +p while others are not. On all of these M37's the older (non +p rated) frame is used. Therefore, I would practice with standard pressure and carry +p.
Does it make any sense that I have a tiny bit less play when I have the trigger all the way back and hammer down (cylinder in lockup) verses just having the gun loaded or unloaded and not pressing in the trigger? It seems to me that I have just a little more play when the gun is not in lockup.
Hello:
I have one of those new M37's from RSR that everyone is talking about. I have not purchased a new Smith revolver in a while. I noticed a very (and I mean very) small amount of play in the cylinder when the trigger is held back. The play is side to side and there is no play at all when...
Looking to buy a new in box model 37 with an older frame (not +p rated and probably from the mid 90's). Would it be ok to occasionally shoot +p .38 ammo in this gun (maybe 25 rounds a year)?
Hmmm. How does S&W manage to mess this kind of stuff up. They specifically told me that the only way to tell if a gun is +p rated is by looking at that lug on the left side of the gun (small lug = non +p and reinforced lug = +p). The girl that I spoke to (Jodi) even said that she talked to a...
I have had this problem with S&W in the past where I have written them an email, waited a few days and get tired of waiting so I call them. The answer I get on the phone then differs from the email reply that I eventually get. Which frame do you have on your M37? Can you take a pic and post...
Well this issue really confuses me. I can see that some have called Smith inquiring if it would be ok to use +p ammo in the new M37's that have come out with non MIM parts, bobbed hammer and no internal lock. I actaully had a friend call S&W two hours ago and he was told that all of the M37's...
I actually called them today and they told me that if a .38 special did not have that piece extending from the right of the cylinder window down to about the trigger guard then the gun was not +p rated. This would include these new guns from RSR that you have (they do not have this extended...
Then why do you think that S&W would stamp some of their barrels with "+p" (as in my case with my new 642) and others such as the M37 without the "+p" on it if they are rated as being +p rated?
Yes, however these guns were a special order. If they were +p rated wouldn't they put "+p" on the barrel. I have a brand new 642 that specifically says "+p" on the barrel.
THe new M37's that are hitting the shelves with the bobbed hammer and no MIM parts or lock - just wondering from someone that has purchased one if they are stamped as being +p or not?
