    It was a tie between SIG p229 and Walther p5, for a long time. Then I fired a sure-nuff SIG-Sauer p210. Stick a fork in it, it's done. Finest handgun I ever held, fired, admired.

    H'mmm. Best all round handgun, according to my needs....but I have a range of needs. For concealed carry, no question, Walther p5. Perhaps the finest handgun ever made. For all round, everything, p220. Simple, reliable, powerful, accurate. And if I miss, LOUD!

    Steel framed .40 S&W guns that aren't 1911's?

    There are several SIG Sauer pistols [p226 and others] that are steel framed in .40 S&W. Go to their catalog and look at the weights of the same model. Heavier weights equal steel frames.

    Gun heavily fouled up

    It looks from the photos like it could stand additional cleaning but nothing serious. Solvent and a soft bronze brush should do it, then rinse and rinse again to get out all the debris. Grease it, oil it, assemble it and shoot it!

    A magazine purchased directly from a manufacturer, carrying factory logos from said manufacturer match the firearm, and is a genuine factory mag by my definition. Many gun manufacturers don't even make magazines anymore. Mec Gar delivers great quality, whether it is a logo'ed magazine...

    Concur with earlier posts; get what you shoot well. Poor shot placement loses. Practice with both, and decide.
