What did your dad use the guns for? If it was something he used a lot I wouldn't sell it, but if it was something he bought and tossed in the safe after realizing how much he hated it I might consider selling it.
45 was never meant to shoot through doors. It is an excellent round though. No one disagrees with that. 9mm was a lot more effective before the internet and rapidly available ballistic charts. Same with 38.

Do not take steel wool to that gun. it's an antique at this point. It's worth more as an antique than as a working firearm. Taking steel wool to it would make it worthless and it still probably wouldn't shoot.
Glad to know that for every 15 dollar box of 17 ammo I buy they'll gladly give me 10 back for it. And for every 500 dollar rifle they sell me they'll buy back for 250.
