    Cross Training w/ Bicycle

In SA cyclists are being targeted more and more, specially mountain bikers like myself. I carry alternative weapons like knives or batons when riding because the sheaths are easily fitted to the hydropack's shoulder straps. But carrying my 9mm has become a must, since you are likely faced...

    Miniature tonfa?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KKTWVUfm530 Hope that link works, 'cause this is really interesting. Watch the video clip from 8:20sec if you only want to see the relevant part. The clip is short history lesson on the tonfa. Near the end a miniature tonfa is showed which is just long...

Anyone carries a telescopic Baton in church?

A cane is a good suggestion. Gives you reach advantage too and it is immediately at the ready. Or just do as many church goers do - hit him over the head with your bible... ;-) But a baton is not a bad choice, does not occupy a hand all the time and easy to carry in a pocket or holster...

    Tactical Pens

I carry a normal Sheaffer Sentinel, because, well, it's a nice solid writing instrument. :-) If you need a pen to break a car window, you're carrying a ****ty knife. ;-)

    Nearly shot my wife!

I would much rather die a madman than a coward. Since we're talking about special ops teams "dreading" this tactic, I guess I can assume that they too only have 10% success rate?

    Nearly shot my wife!

So what happens when you hide behind your bed and they come after you? Are your chances any better then? Probably, but not by much. Only thing you achieved was dying in the comfort of your bedroom. I have to wheigh all the experience on this forum up against real-life reports I read every day...

    Nearly shot my wife!

If someone breaks into your house to steal from you, he is not there to ambush and kill you. His primary objective will be to - as stealthely (is that a word?hehehe) as possible - take your belongings and leave. He is not planning on waking you and fighting you. That would be the worst case...

    Nearly shot my wife!

Can we agree that those of us who have children can at least come out of hiding behind our beds and unlock our bedroom doors and, heaven forbid, leave the safety of our rooms to go and find our children and bring them to safety? Just kidding. I think this discussion will give very serious...

    Nearly shot my wife!

How much proven similarity is there between these simulated tests and real-life home invasions/defence? Are there any stats? I am willing to bet that in real life, home owners defending their homes have a better than 90% success rate. I say this because I read our newspaper articles...

    Nearly shot my wife!

I have to disagree. In our part of the world they observe their target for days or even weeks, studying your behaviour and movements. When they do strike, most often it happens when you're not around or during the dead of night when you are too fast asleep to wake up and be effective in a...
