I've got a '76 Marlin 60 and I keep the action spotless. I had a ton of FTE problems when I first purchased it until I polished the inside of the receiver, bolt face, extractors and feedthroat with a dremel and tube of Fitz's. I don't recall ever cleaning the bore, and it's been very accurate.
