    Lapua 338 magnum pressure

The OP stated that he has a new rifle. A few years back, I was reloading for a new Savage 110 in 338 Lapua, and had similar hard bolt lift even with starting loads. For me, it was one shot, force bolt open, then head home to pull loads apart and verify everything. After two more times back...

    Places to shoot: DFW?

Two decent outdoor ranges I have used in your area are Elm Fork and Quail Creek. Elm fork also has a really nice shotgun sports area with a great sporting clays course. Good luck! Bob

    27-2 value

That's a nice revolver! I thought that the 27-2 models had pinned barrels. I always have more to learn. Good luck with determining the value of this S&W. Bob

M1 Garand: Measuring TE Using ME Gauge

Respectfully, Mr Guffey, I do indeed know what taper gages are and how they are typically applied in industry and research. I also know that a taper gage is not a hole gage. Taper is expressed as an angle. You need two diameters measured a known distance apart to derive the taper angle of...

M1 Garand: Measuring TE Using ME Gauge

I am not an expert at TE or MW gaging or the dynamics of the wear and/or erosion in these areas. I am, however pretty familiar with measuring all sorts of physical dimensions in an industrial and lab environment. From the OP's post, it seems that he wants to measure the distance from the...

CCI primer info from the firing line

I asked CCI about this in 2012, here is their answer: ---------------------- Bob, I know you’re not trying to be argumentative but we get this question a lot. No matter how many times it is answered and posted and re-posted and stated that so and so at CCI said or wrote to me that the 400...

starting 44 mag reloading: do I need Lee Factory Crimp Die?

In reading the above replies, I think it is important to remember that there are TWO different Lee FCD die designs: the one with the fixed sizing ring, and the one with the sliding crimp collet that contacts the shell plate. I hope that this helps clarify why people seem to be talking about...

Plated bullets and full magnum loads? 357

You will know that you are pushing plated bullets too fast when they start to come apart in flight. I had lead spray patterns on my targets showing that the bullets were disintegrating in flight. These were Berry's plated bullets in a 10.5" S&W 500.

    Hornady LNL Press Question

I think this problem is being overstated. Sure some people have problems with their frame developing a deep divot, but most others don't. I have tens of thousands of rounds through my LNL AP and the divot has never gotten bigger than it was after about 100 rounds. I would wait and confirm...

    Why are my empties sticking?

Another thing that you might want to check in addition to the finish of the actual chamber is the possibility of the RIM of the shell getting jammed against the rough surface of the barrel hood. This was part of the extraction problem on my 870 Express. Good luck! Bob

    100lbs of lead,how many bullets?.

There are 7000 grains in a pound. Just take your number of grains (100 X 7000=700,000) and divide by your bullet weight. Good luck! Bob

    45-70 low pressure loads

For safe, low velocity loads with lead bullets, I suggest trying Trail Boss powder...it was made for this kind of situation! Bob

How much brass do you tumble at a time?

I have the same tumbler as the OP. I have noticed that when I overload it, the brass never gets shiny as they are vibrating against each other and constantly getting small scratches. If I take half of the cases out and re-tumble, all is well. It just wastes time and power. Bob

    Snub .357 effectiveness

BBTI is a great site, but please note their statement of how they test: "One note: in every case with the T/C Encore the length of the barrel was measured from the end of the barrel back to the breech face. This is how semi-auto pistols are measured, but revolvers are measured as the length...
