    We got small deer in Eastern NC. A 200 lb buck is huge. Most or our bucks run about 150# and does about 120#. Don't take no cannon for these.

    What does your wife carry?

    She carries a Ruger LCP religiously but her favorite is her Sig 232. I bought her a Sig 239 which she never carries because it's too heavy for her, go figure.

    I put revolver as it's what I carry most often, a J-Frame due to size/weight. I'd carry a rifle if it was practical.

    Win-Win, a list of plus and minus points on these two guns would be equal. Buy the one that fits you better.

    S&W 340 would be my top choice and is my EDC. For the budget conscious a 442 would be the ticket. Going bargan basement, it would be a Charter Arms .38 snub.

    Remington 870 or Mossberg 500. Your choice. BTW load is more important. Low Recoil 00 Buck followed by Low Recoil Foster Slug gets my vote in 12 ga.

    9MM Stopping Power

    If your gun is robust i.e. Beretta 92, Glocks, etc. use +P 124's. If you have an older gun i.e. Browning Hi Power Mark 1 use Standard Pressure 147 JHP's. You are not undergunned with a 9 but there are better choices. NCSHP left the 9 due to poor stopping power, they now use the 357 sig and LOVE...

    Maximum Effective Range is 40 Yards. It has an Maximum Range of 800 Yards. Buck is deadly up to 2/3 of a mile be careful.
