Well my Fiance has grown to want a 9mm other than her Bersa. After seeing the slew of features our others has, she wants some of these in a 9mm:

- ~ 4" barrel
- Fiber optic sights standard (really want to just buy and go) or aftermarket available
- Adjustable rear sight. #1 feature just gotta have
- Good grip for a ladies hand (like a Witness)
- Prefer a metal frame since all ours are metal now and doesn't care for plastic guns
- Two-tone or something other than all black
- Reliable as can be
- Single action only. Yea after shooting all we have she wants to switch away from a double/single
- Good sight plane
- 23-28 ounce piece unloaded

Suggestions $300-$800

Putting her Bersa on Broker and hoping to find a good one for her.

Springfield EMP, maybe.

I think the limiting factor is going to be SAO. A Hi Power is the only other single action that crosses my mind, but I don't think that would work for your purposes.

-swap the sights out to 10-8 plain rear and a Dawson .090 thin FO front.

I don't see anything out there that meets all your criteria, you'll have to mod something.

Fusion can make a CCO to your spec. If theyre better at following written instructions.

Have her look at the EAA Witness Elite Match. Slightly longer and heavier than she is looking for, but will make a great range gun.

Here's the Witness Elite Match in 9mm as CrazyO suggested above. It comes close to all your criteria. I bought mine used so I'm not sure the FO front sight was standard. The SA trigger is excellent. Adjustable rear sight. It's a fine shooter.

Good luck. Your best bet is to add some of the non-standard things to a gun she likes.

I'd start with a CZ SP-01 Phantom (the polymer framed one for weight savings) then add the adjustable sights, FO front site, etc.

i'll state what's obvious to me. bersa has her covered,..unless your specifically saying she doesn't like or want a bersa.

about 4" barrel-UC is 3.25" and HC is 4.25"

FO front and adjustable rear-you don't specify what you mean by "adjustable" but remember that sig sauer sights fit these bersas and precisionsights makes FO both front and rear with the rear being adjustable or they make low profile adj rears and you can use another brand for the front FO.

only she can decide what's a "good grip".again, are you saying she doesn't like the bersa grip? too fat maybe?

aluminum alloy is metal,..bersa covers this.

two-tone-bersa covers.

reliable-bersa covers.

SAO-just like a CZ or a tanfoglio, you can rack the slide on the bersa, put the safety up,and now use it as if it were SAO or for C&L use. just think of it as a SAO that has second strike capability and ignore the DA trigger pull.

good sight plane-i imagine your talking about sight radius-the UC has less but the HC is pretty good.

23-28oz-the UC is well withing but the HC is damn close.

300-$800-even buying the sights and having a good smith install them for you, bersas' got you covered.

you were not very specific on certain things but in any case, you're going to have to find an aluminum alloy frame gun that fits the bill or go for polymer, just make sure that the sights you want are available for it.you may have to "loosen up" on a few demands.

I updated my signature to show what she has been shooting. The .22, my Witness 10mm are both SA. She usually shoots the .357 SA as well. When we first got the Bersa she really loved it (she thought she did well with it). As she has shot the others and we have gotten better, it seems the Bersa is just flat out off. She and I both get frustrated with the darn sights! I ordered the LPA fiber sights and Meprolight adjustables for a Sig P226. Just won't fit without machining of the slide. I took it to two different gunsmiths and returned both sets. Unfortunately nobody makes an adjustable rear to put on it or we would keep it. She loves it other than that! That's why we were looking for a different platform that we could set it up right (sights mainly). Unless someone comes out with a Bersa specific adjustable rear sight we are dead in the water. I have sent e-mails to the big makers and they say they have no plans to make a Bersa sight.

Trust me I have even went hard at Bersa:

Your criteria are extremely limiting.
I can't think of any pistol that meets all of her requirements.

Me either, and there aren't too many handguns out there that I'm unaware of.

I think you'd better eliminate a couple of requirements if you actually want to find something.

well,i read that page of that long thread. i don't know about differences from serial numbers or slides,so i can't really help you there.

sounds like either a bersa issue which could maybe be resolved with them or,..you need a better gunsmith.

by the way, sometimes it's normal for sights that are supposed to fit,not to be an exact match.in fact,it's better if they go a little over rather than a little under and some material needs to be taken off. i'd rather take it off the sight rather than the slide though.it shouldn't be excessive.

i would begin by contacting bersa and having a long conversation.have you had problems contacting them?

make sure there's no production differences with sigs too.(sights that are supposed to fit your bersa year)

i started thinking this morning of the bersa thunders i've rented before and remembered one of the things i didn't like about them was that when you engage the safety on/up it decocks to DA,so what i said before about using it as a SAO is incorrect.sorry about that,..but you knew that intercooler.

good luck.

In my experience Bersa's service has been pretty decent. You might want to call them to see what they suggest as to getting the factory sights regulated. If it came messed up from the factory then the will probably have you send it to one of their smiths to have it fixed.

Yea they have been pretty good. We may take it one more time with the current sights and lock it down on a rest to see what we get. From there maybe order a set of TruGlo sights for it and change the front sight to a #8 if it will raise the POI.

No way on the Glock. Niether like the 2x4 grip, square and ugly slide or anything about them.

There is no pistol made that will satisfy your requirements listed

I can not think of one on the market that you will be completely happy with.

A 9mm commander sized 1911 could match all your requirements, although you're probably going to have to swap the sights to get the sights you want.

She uses it for both.

I spoke with TruGlo today and they said they don't recomend their sights on a Bersa. They didn't shoot right.

Looking at some Millett sights but they aren't fiber optic. I think she can deal with another DA/SA pistol.
