I didn't have it for years ... thought it was just too expensive.
Finally bought it a couple of years ago and my only gripe is ...
I SHOULD HAVE BOUGHT IT LONG, LONG BEFORE I FINALLY DID!
If you're really into reloading, especially Wildcatting and extremely obsolete calibers ... you...
Don't have it yet, but it was a Marlin 1889 in .38/40 WCF. It was 47 years ago that I last had one ... but suffering from young, married man syndrome, I ended up selling it to pays for something we needed.
Now I have one again, not the same rifle ... but at 70 years of age ... close...
barnbwt ... thanks for staying on top of this and for your EXCELLENT recap of BATFE's behavior.
While I doubt anything will come of this, I hold out hope that someone will take BATFE apart and seriously punish all who had anything to do with this travesty (prison, loss of benefits and...
Being overlooked is the desire on the part of some people to live in a world in which they are 100%, completely safe from any form of misadventure, natural or man-made.
Without statistics to back me up, I'd venture that most violent homocides (read: gun related) are perpetrated by young-ish...
Beautiful rifle ... many Persians are. They and the Argy M1909 are virtually the pinnacle of Mauser manufacturing. They look and feel QUALITY and many of them look like they were never issued.
It's your rifle and your decision to shoot it or not ... but I shoot mine. If you reload ...
I have to go with BruceB on this as well. My '91/G3 is a Greek/SA from decades ago ... it's very accurate for me. 97/100 on head shots from 100 yards. However, I'm an old school guy who likes conventional stocks made from wood ... so the M14/M1A which I had for even longer is still my "go-to"...
The first principle must be: DO NO HARM! Just because you have the right to do something does not mean you should do it ... not that it might not be a good idea.
I respect your right to open carry ... but what is it costing us in terms of BAD PUBLICITY generated? "So what" is NOT an...
LOCK YOUR DOORS (even when you're home!!!).
My wife grew up in a city much larger than the one in which we have lived for the last 40 years and she has ALWAYS made a point of having doors locked, even when we're home. I know of people here who don't lock their doors (even when they're just...
I probably have half that amount myself. Why? Because it was available from CMP when I bought my M1 Garand and M1 Carbine ... so I bought a bunch.
Sure glad I did!
Still, the "good side of all of this" is: if some "kid" learns about what can happen when you break into another person's home, garage or business ... they might just not think it's such a good idea, especially if you end up getting killed for potential theft of what amounts to "petty cash".
My motto since my experiences in Vietnam in '68 is:
"No one ever complained about humping too much ammo ... after a firefight!"
How much is too much? You can answer that best when you're down to your last box (you pick the caliber) and have not been able to find any more at your LGS...
Most of my firearms are defective ... the brass either stays in the firearm or flys out the top or side ... but NEVER fly out the front of the barrel!:what: WTH????
OK ... and concurrent with that a mandated test to allow you to vote as well as producing a photo ID and payment of a fee.
I have to do that every time I buy a firearm.
I fill out a 4473, I have to produce a photo driver's license or other ID and I pay a fee if it's a pistol. :cuss:
