How much is to much?

Personally I'm always looking to pick up ammo. Don't really feel like I can have too much.

If you realize you can't retire because of the supply of ammo you have, then perhaps that would be too much.

Regardless of the amount, ammo would be the last thing I would need help with. Things like appliances and furniture need more than one person. Ammo boxes......... not so much.

Congrats Ditchtiger.

Glad you finally got outta there.

I was wondering about the u-haul.

100 times congrats on the house.

As probably one of the only folks to have seen the majority of the stash- I do not envy you poor souls one bit.

I guess a general rule of thumb would be
if it's cheaper to jack up your existing house, load it on a truck, and have it moved to a new site; than it is to pay someone (including yourself) to haul all the ammo out of the house - then it MIGHT be pushing it.

My motto since my experiences in Vietnam in '68 is:

"No one ever complained about humping too much ammo ... after a firefight!"

How much is too much? You can answer that best when you're down to your last box (you pick the caliber) and have not been able to find any more at your LGS, Cabelas, Wal-Mart, the internet or anywhere. That's when you will know you DIDN'T have too much!

It's the same for those of us who reload ... how many components are too many? When you can't find brass ... primers ... powder... bullets ... you realize you didn't buy enough when you could!:D

If all the ammo was in cases, crates and steel ammo cans, then your friends just wusssed out and went for another beer. If there were a couple hundred peanut butter jars full of .45s etc, they might of paused but it still could have been done in a couple hours of easy walking from truck to garage. I have a friend with several pallets of ammo. That's when you walk away honorably. And his machine gun doesn't think it's too much.

I would move the ammunition and not worry about it. It is too much trouble to replace it even if the pricing was the same assuming that you will continue to shoot.
