MOLON LABE: Pro-Second Amendment metal song

I hear a touch of Pepper Keenan in the lead vocals (a compliment, I really dig Pepper's sound). That said, I think it's really hard to write explicitly political music and not have it come off gimmicky. Politics is an important and unfortunately inescapable part of the human experience, so...

Educate me on "End the freeze on gun violence research"

http://reason.com/blog/2013/01/16/the-problem-with-the-public-health-resea A blog post at Reason covering the research by Kellerman which was debunked. They also discuss other research on gun violence coming from a public health perspective and how those studies tend to be more idealogically...

Spikes Tactical still a good option?

I put in an order for one 12/30/2011. It just showed up at my FFL last Thursday (3/22/2012). I decided to go with Spikes because my internet/forum research led me to believe they were a fairly good deal for the price. I almost went with a Colt 6920 instead but I really wanted a midlength gas...

    Is this statistic accurate?

The only authority I need for that statistic comes from Stossel's moustache.

Glock Gen4 bugs worked out yet?

I bought a Gen 4 Glock 19 August of 2010. I've run around 1,500 rounds through it without any failures of any kind.

    For Glock 19 owners

My Gen4 Glock 19 has only 1,500 rounds through it and not a single FTE or FTF. I envy how much some of the responders shoot

    Glocks

This. I bought a Glock 19 for my first pistol. On the advice of several friends more familiar with guns than I, when I was trying to make my selection I held many models of semiauto pistol in a gun store, picked the 5 I liked best, and had a rental day at the range. At the end of the day I felt...

    223 Bulk Question

The best deal I have found is on ammoengine.com http://www.ammoengine.com/find/store_frame/5495858?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.wideners.com%2Fitemdetail.cfm%3Fitem_id%3D8747%26dir%3D18 Lake City M193, $320 per thousand plus shipping expense. My local gun show (Monroe WA) came out slightly ahead when...

Two children dead in Washington state due to parents' negligence

You assume anti-gun folks place a high value on logical consistency in their political thinking. Unfortunately, I have found that the vast majority of humans do not do so, and in fact logical inconsistencies in political philosophies are quite common.

    Why not a Glock 19???

I got my gen4 Glock 19 a few months after they came out and it has run 1,200+ rounds with zero failures. I feel like it fits my hands very well and points naturally, a big part of why I chose it, but I cannot speak for your hands.

    Went shooting today, UGH!!!

Dan Bear is correct. A handful of people are stupid, this will always be the case with humanity. I do not want bureaucrats deciding who is worthy of procreating and who is not.

    Exercise recommendation?

I second (third) post #7 for being the best advice post so far. Important enough that they bear repeating: Check with your doctor first Spot training does not work - you need to condition the entire body There is no magic supplement - you will have to put in hard work and sweat to improve...

Castle Doctine: You can, but should you?

I think Ragnar Danneskjold has done us all a favor by trying to get us to think about our personal ethics on the deployment of deadly force. I think it's important to be mentally prepared to do what it takes to stop a threat and keep yourself alive. I think it's also very important to realize...

Am I the only person who cleans his guns?

This is actually false, and a great (and often repeated) example of Frederique Bastiat's broken windows fallacy. In his original example, the argument was that having a stone break your window was good for the economy, because it caused you to give business to the glazier. In reality, if you...

    Wal-Mart Ammo

I just picked up 10 boxes of 9mm Federal in a Salem, OR Wal-Mart last week. They had about 10 more, and I considered getting them, but I didn't really need the extra stock so passed them up. I have yet to go into an Oregon or Washington Wal-Mart and find them totally out of 9mm.
