You assume anti-gun folks place a high value on logical consistency in their political thinking. Unfortunately, I have found that the vast majority of humans do not do so, and in fact logical inconsistencies in political philosophies are quite common.

I just picked up 10 boxes of 9mm Federal in a Salem, OR Wal-Mart last week. They had about 10 more, and I considered getting them, but I didn't really need the extra stock so passed them up. I have yet to go into an Oregon or Washington Wal-Mart and find them totally out of 9mm.
