    Microgroove rifling

Rangerruck Thanks for the info. I have always wondered what was supposed to be so good about microgroove as opposed to standard rifling. It makes sense. Do you know if anyone has ever taken a specific action and tried it with both types of barrel? It would be interesting to see. I notice...

    Microgroove rifling

ArtP I have to say that so far, the rifle has functioned extremely well. I've put 500 - 600 rounds through it and so far it has never failed to fire or cycle the action properly. Accuracy is a whole 'nother thing but I think I'll wait a bit before I start blaming the rifle.:o Thanks Testy1

Dewalt-2 That's a nice looking rifle! I'll check out Wally's as well as some of the sporting goods places around here. Thanks Testy1

Uncle Mike Apologies for my last post, that crap on the barrel DID come off. It took a lot of elbow-grease but it's gone. Now I just have to worry about the muzzle crown. Thanks Testy1

    Microgroove rifling

DBR Thanks for this. I've never used one of the "dot" kind of sights but they sound interesting. As far as the scope goes, there is certainly nothing serious about my target shooting right now, I'm lucky to stay on the paper at 100 yds. :banghead: Tomorrow I'll try the 50 yd range...

76shuvlinoff I'm going to try some match ammo for a bit and see if that helps me. If I standardize on one type that will eliminate one variable. What do the Federal Automatch rounds go for? If they're cheap enough I could standardize on those until I am shooting to my own satisfaction and then...

    Microgroove rifling

Uncle Mike Nope! Whatever it is has made it through two cleanings and a little bit of poking and prodding by me. I should have said so earlier but I bought this thing from a pawn shop and have no idea of its history. Regards Testy

    Scientific Cane Damage

A few things on canes and sticks in general. OK, credentials first. I am a "Lakan Unang/Untas in Kali Silat, a martial art from the Fillipines. At least in the first part of the syllabus it uses short (28") sticks, either singly or in pairs. A few things about the sticks, for light sparring...

    "Floating the Barrel?" Newbie question

WNTFW I appreciate the info and your time and yes, my attitude is that the shooter is a lot more important than what he's shooting as far as accuracy goes. I'm sure that most of the rifles I have are more accurate than I am and that is something I am working on and showing steady but slow...

    "Floating the Barrel?" Newbie question

WNTFW Thanks for the education. ;) I was thinking about this for a project I had in mind. I have a friend with a VERY nice 308 target rifle. His rifle is extraordinarily accurate but waaay too heavy for anything except competition shooting from a bench. I was thinking about trying to...

    "Floating the Barrel?" Newbie question

In several of the forums I have seen people mention "floating the Barrel" as an aid to accuracy. What do people mean by this? Is it the same as glass bedding? What is the theory behind this and does it really work? Thanks Testy

    Microgroove rifling

pikid89 :D I understand. Anyway, I'll look at the Bushnells and see what I can afford. OK, I just took a look at the tech-sights that you and WNTFW both recommended. They look much like the sights on an older Mini-14 I own and I like those quite a bit. Question, are there commonly...

    Microgroove rifling

Deus Machina Thanks, I'll take a look for the Bushnells. They have always had a good reputation but I expected them to be a LOT more expensive. Thanks again Testy

    Microgroove rifling

WNTFW I'm also not too impressed with the stock sights. I really don't like the plastic blade front sight and believe it has probably been knocked off center at some time or other. Unfortunately, there doesn't see, to be a good way to adjust it properly and in a controllable manner. Simply...
