    Super Bubba Mosin I built

Comparing a Mosin to a '03 is ridiculous. Sent from my DROID RAZR using Tapatalk 4

    Super Bubba Mosin I built

Nice accuracy. My bet is that by chopping and crowning the barrel, you improved the accuracy. It's a big misconception that a shorter barrel is a less accurate one. Stiffening the barrel contributes to accuracy. So does chopping off inches of muzzle wear from those steel cleaning rods. Good...

Suppressors now legal for hunting in North Carolina!

The provision removing the ban on hunting with suppressors was placed into a larger bill that broadened where we can legally carry concealed handguns here in the great state of NC. It was placed in there by my own representative from Wilkes County, Shirley Randleman. Believe it or not, (I'm...

    MAS 36/51 in SOG Flyer

That's what I was thinking. 300-400 was what I had in mind. $1200 is insane. Although the one in the auction has been refinished. Mine was still in the greasy arsenal wrap when I received it, and the wood was very nice, but nowhere near that polished.

    MAS 36/51 in SOG Flyer

$1295? Really? I have one of these, perfect condition, that I paid $80 for back in the day. These are the ones with the grenade launcher attachment on the muzzle. Are they completely crazy at SOG, or is this anywhere near an actual value? If so.....:neener: Cool.

Companies That Have Taken a Stand

Write an email to Ruger and Smith and Wesson now. Urge them to do the same. Ruger has an excellent link that allows you to quickly send form letters to your representatives. Imagine if they started suddenly hearing from their customers asking them to take the same stand. No Ruger products...

    Rossi M92 357

Love mine. Handy small package that delivers a wallop. .357 out of a rifle is a much different animal than out of a revolver. I've killed a couple of deer with it. Very slick rifle.

I have a problem with "Shot placement is key" and "Overpenetration"

Not sure I agree with that. A pump shotgun with an 18 inch barrel is very maneuverable. And a WHOLE LOT more powerful stopper than a handgun. Don't get me wrong, I like handguns. They're portable and concealable. But if I hear breaking glass at 3 am, I'm grabbing the 870, not a pistol.

I have a problem with "Shot placement is key" and "Overpenetration"

Interesting how almost this entire discussion centered on handguns. Yes, you can certainly be assaulted while out and about. My main concern, however, is the protection of my family. At home, I follow this logic: .45 ACP: muzzle energy 500-600 ft/lbs (with the right ammo) 12 gauge...

    Rossi M92 .357 16" barrel - anyone have one?

I like mine. My son deer hunts with it. I've personally killed a couple with it. As long as you're using a stout load and keep it to within 100 yards, it does the job. Very light and handy too. Some of them (mine included) are a little rough to start with, but after a few hundred rounds...

    242 yds with a .22 lr !!

Shooting steel over the top of a plowed (and dry) clay field makes it easy to walk 'em in. Fun stuff. Sorta like field artillery.....:D

Glued To The Bench--a growing trend?

People get very touchy about this topic, but the fact is that the skill of shooting is important. Knowing how to shoot and shoot well, from all positions, when it mattered is what has kept this a free nation.

Educate me on youth .22 rifles

The Savage Cub is a nice little rifle, too.

Educate me on youth .22 rifles

In the price range you mentioned, you might want to look at the Marlin 795. It's a very well made little autoloader, and it's as small or smaller than a 10/22 so it would fit a young man well. it's not so small that he couldn't use it as a teen or adult, though. I've seen them as low as $120...
