Some gun companies have taken a stand against New York's meddling with Second Amendment rights:

New York Told to Pound Salt

This is kind of refreshing compared to the sell outs we've had in the past. In case you don't remember, Smith & Wesson sold out a number of years ago when they were trying to avoid litigation regarding law suits claiming the gun manufacturer was responsible for a criminal's crimes with a gun.

I wouldn't buy anything Smith & Wesson for a long time but its leadership did change so I've relented on that. The owner of Cooper Firearms donated to at least the first campaign of President Obama. Supposedly he stepped down from running the company after that but I don't really believe that.

The article is about Olympic Arms.

I think I know what brand entry AR I'm buying my Dad when I get back from basic... :)

We need to start petitioning the big firearms manufacturers -- S&W, Colt, Springfield, Glock, Remington, etc -- to take the same stand.

The ammo folks need to pony up with this as well in a reverse boycott of customers. Hope it takes effect.

magpul is close as they are saying if the bill goes into law they are packing their stuff and moving out of CO

BerettaUSA informally (at a rally at the capitol IIRC) said that they wouldn't stay in MD if MD didn't support Beretta's customers.

Write an email to Ruger and Smith and Wesson now. Urge them to do the same. Ruger has an excellent link that allows you to quickly send form letters to your representatives. Imagine if they started suddenly hearing from their customers asking them to take the same stand. No Ruger products sold to NY State agencies, only to citizens.

It will be a sad day if Magpul leaves Erie, Colorado. That small town is about 4 miles from me, they need every enterprise that is in that town, literally ! The state is looking at doing a good thing for the citizens, but letting a company that contributes $80 MIL a year go? :banghead:

RRA clearly states that it is temporary.

Call me a skeptic but I wonder if these companies are doing this now because they have so much business elsewhere that it won't impact them in the least. It will be interesting to see whether they maintain these stances after the free market returns.

" It will be interesting to see whether they maintain these stances after the free market returns."

For now, that's irrelevant. What's needed is encouragement of the companies which are "maybes" on this policy. The more, the better, for putting pressure on lawmakers NOW.

So, we need company names.

Rock River didn't really join our side, they suspended sales to the citizens of NY (for fear of legal trouble not to make a stand). Olympic is suspending sales to government agencies of New York to prove a point (If Ar-15's and 30 round magazines serve no useful purposes for self defense then why does law enforcement need them?) I'd like to see Rock River do the same. A lot of the larger manufacturers live well off of government contracts so it will be a tough sell.

Despite their insane price gouging Cheaper Than Dirt is not selling anything to agencies that the local citizens cannot buy themselves. So, I do give them credit for doing something right.

when a gun company that currently supplies police agencies stops doing so in states that infringe on our rights somebody might listen. if glock were to stop selling standard capacity magazines to new york cops that would be a start.

Yeah those are my thoughts too. Olympic Arms cutting off NY agencies might get a headline or two on some conservative websites but I would be surprised if they were ever even selling to any NY agencies to begin with.
