Looking around the garage, on the door to my safe I found my S&W 22a. I was hoping I still had an automatic to shoot. Tomorrow I will take it to the range to see what .22s will shoot best out of it. It was on the door to my safe. Figured it would be on the shelf.:banghead:

That must be one mighty big safe if you can "lose" a .22 pistol in it. Good to hear that you found it and can enjoy shooting it again.

Heck, I'm more ecited to see the CCI Blazer ammo :) Love that stuff, but haven't seen any on the shelves for some time. My stock is dwindling down to near 1k...

Don't feel too bad,,,

I once lost a Bersa Thunder 22,,,
By putting it in a hidden compartment of a briefcase.

I tore my trunk apart looking for it,,,
I was certain I had placed it in my briefcase,,,
But the next day I could not find the danged gun.

The thing was it's not really a compartment,,,
It's a two zipper "sleeve" for lack of a better word,,,
It's meant to slide the sleeve over the handle of a roller suitcase.

I had taken 8 Canadian guests to my gun range,,,
Where we shot a large assortment of different handguns,,,
When we packed up I put that Bersa in their because it wasn't mine.

My thinking was to keep it separated from mine,,,
Because it belonged to the host of the Canadian folk.

Anyways, I couldn't find it,,,
I was positive I put it in the briefcase,,,
But since I couldn't find it I thought I had left it at the range.

Two trips back searching through the grass where we parked,,,
After a letter to my range asking about a found pistol,,,
And weeks (9 weeks to be exact) I gave up.

I was ready to order my friend a new pistol,,,
When I needed to use that feature of my briefcase,,,
Imagine my total surprise (and instantaneous recall) when I discovered it in there.

I had carried that bag to work every day during that time,,,
And I shudder to think of the other prohibited places it traveled.

So a memory lapse can happen,,,
Don't think you are alone. ;)

I lost a Browning Buckmark once.... well let me rephrase that: I FOUND a Browning Buckmark, in the box buried in a safe that I had zero recollection of buying.

That was a fun day :)

Christmas 2013, I gave this older NAA .22LR to my son as a gag gift. A week later he sheepishly asked me if we had found it around our house after the Christmas cleanup (nope). He really felt bad about losing it, and we assumed it went out with the trashed wrapping paper.

Fast forward to early December 2014, son's wife calls to say she found it in the bottom of their gift wrap storage box - gun was complete in its little rug with manual.

Truth be told, I gave to him in the first place because the tiny thing was too dam small for me to manipulate the action.

It doesn't take much to forget one, especially when you trade regularly. When I was thinning my collection of junk to a smaller collection of quality several times I went looking for something only to see something else in its place. Other times I would go looking for something and wonder what I had done with it until I counted the cash in the safe. I'm glad I'm past that point in life.
