Don't feel too bad,,,
I once lost a Bersa Thunder 22,,,
By putting it in a hidden compartment of a briefcase.
I tore my trunk apart looking for it,,,
I was certain I had placed it in my briefcase,,,
But the next day I could not find the danged gun.
The thing was it's not really a compartment,,,
It's a two zipper "sleeve" for lack of a better word,,,
It's meant to slide the sleeve over the handle of a roller suitcase.
I had taken 8 Canadian guests to my gun range,,,
Where we shot a large assortment of different handguns,,,
When we packed up I put that Bersa in their because it wasn't mine.
My thinking was to keep it separated from mine,,,
Because it belonged to the host of the Canadian folk.
Anyways, I couldn't find it,,,
I was positive I put it in the briefcase,,,
But since I couldn't find it I thought I had left it at the range.
Two trips back searching through the grass where we parked,,,
After a letter to my range asking about a found pistol,,,
And weeks (9 weeks to be exact) I gave up.
I was ready to order my friend a new pistol,,,
When I needed to use that feature of my briefcase,,,
Imagine my total surprise
(and instantaneous recall) when I discovered it in there.
I had carried that bag to work every day during that time,,,
And I shudder to think of the other prohibited places it traveled.
So a memory lapse can happen,,,
Don't think you are alone.
