My go to pistols for general use are my Glocks, and as we all know, the barrels on Glocks are not real lead friendly. With that in mind, how will it work for me to hand load Berry's plated bullets? I keep seeing them advertised and it looks like the price is fairly decent if they don't lead foul my barrels with thin plating which can be problematic. Any thoughts other than I know not to push them too fast?

Any of the plated would be fine, but you could go to coated bullets which are slightly cheaper. I've used the Precision Bullets (Kemp TX) and Bayou Bullets with good results and no leading! But remember according to Glock, reloads will void the warranty! Of course no one has ever heard of that actually happening.

I don't have a Glock but from what i've read the Berry's plated bullets should work like a charm.

Lead works fine in Glock barrels, but coated lead is an even cleaner, easier option! Check out the Hi-Tek coated bullets from Missouri Bullet Company. They offer a discount to THR members...

It depends on how hot you load them. If you are loading them for high velocities you are better off with FMJ.

I use the coated Bayou bullets in my Glocks and Xtreme plated in my wifes. No problems with any of them and we shoot a lot. Can't go wrong with either.

This does not apply...Neither 9MM or .45acp. has loads over 1250fps, with standard weight bullets. This is the max speed recommended for most plated bullets.

I use blue bullets coated lead for 9 (Glock) & 45.

I prefer to find the best deals on bulk jacketed bullets in 9MM and 45ACP especially for my Glocks. I shot Berry plated but they are very soft and thinly plated. You can easily over taper crimp them and leave heavy crimp marks in the bullet. Just me but I don't care for shooting powder painted bullets in my guns.

I don't own a Glock but I am really happy with the Rocky Mountain Reloading 9mm 124gr Flat nose and their 230gr .45 RN bullet. Thicker plating and harder core than some plated bullets. They offer THR members a 5% discount with the code.
They also have some deals on various jacket bullets from time to time.

I think you will be happy with a good plated bullet in your Glock for practice/fun.
I have had better results with the RMRs than Berrys. Not saying there is anything wrong with Berrys, just that my pistols preferred the RMRs.
I have shot lots of Missouri Bullet Company Coarted and was happy with them as well.

I use the RMR plated also. Thicker plating that can be shot at 1500 and good price and fast shipping.

Excellent suggestions! Forums are a great way to discover products that I have never used before...or for that matter....not aware existed before your posts. Thanks!!

Plated 9mm bullet

I looked at the bullets, prices and shipping of several of the suggestions I got here. Seems the RMR (Rocky Mountain Reloading) was a pretty strong suggestion, so I ordered a small quantity of the 115 gr Plated RN to give them a trial run. With free shipping it works especially well for small orders so I'm not trying to cram a bunch of untested bullets in my cart to maximize the shipping weight allowance. I can try a few at a time like this and see what works well. I will test small batches of various 9mm bullet weights and shapes before I commit to a large quantity. Great suggestions!

Observe Berry's posted speed limit of 1250 fps and you will have no problem. I've shot at least 5000 in the last year in 9 & 45

Don't forget the discount we get at RMR... And to be accurate: their 'match' plated bullets are, for all intents & purposes, the same (better than, actually) as FMJ bullets.

Check out the huge thread on their new bullets here in the Reloading Forum on THR.

Glock will service your pistol as long as you don't blow it up!

I have shot thousands of Berry's and Xtreme plated bullets in my G19 without any problems. I have also shot thousands of Berry's and and Xtreme 45 bullets in my 1911 with no problem.

I had a G42 serviced at Glock in Smyrna GA. I told the armorer that I was shooting reloads. He said as long as you don't blow the pistol up Glock will be glad to service it under warranty.

Glock offers walk in service at the Smyrna plant. An armorer meets you, discusses your problem, services the pistol, test fires it and returns it to you with a discussion of what was done. This is done while you wait and at no charge.

I've been shooting the 9mm 115 grain plated hardcore match for awhile now, it's a good bullet. I load them as FMJ.

Quite well.

I loaded my USPSA match loads with Montana Gold jacketed bullets but used Berry's and other brand plated bullets for practice due to lower cost.

While plated loads did not match the accuracy I got with MG jacketed loads, things changed when Berry's released their "thick plated" hollow based bullets which met and at times surpassed the accuracy I got with my jacketed loads - http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?t=745656

BTW, here are 25 yard group shot with Berry's regular plated 124 gr RN with solid base - http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?p=9382933#post9382933

Since you are ordering from RMR, I would suggest their Hardcore Match thick plated bullets. Here are 25 yard groups shot with RMR 124 gr HM RN - http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?p=9655361#post9655361

BTW, here's listing of plating thickness for comparison - http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?p=9927091#post9927091
Below is a listing of plating thickness and rated fps as best as I could find.

Speer TMJ: .015"
Rocky Mountain Reloading HM: .012"-.014" (rated to 1500 fps)
Berry's Thick Plated (TP): .012" (rated to 1500 fps)
PowerBond: .010"-.011" (rated to 1300 fps)
Berry's Regular: .0035"-.008" (rated to 1250 fps)
HSM: .005" (no fps rating)
Rainier: .004" (rated to 1500 fps?)
X-Treme: Can't find any reference for plating thickness but rates the regular plated bullets to 1200 fps and "Heavy Plate Concave Base" plated bullets to 1500 fps
Frontier CMJ: Can't find plating thickness or fps rating

All my 9mm, 38, and .45 are Berrys plated bullets with a variety of powders and have been for many years. I do stay under the 1250/fps with the 9mm and I have never had any issues whatsoever regardless of the type of rifling in the barrel.
