Which generation Glock do you prefer and why ? Gen 2, 3, or 4 ? I am leaving Generation 1 out because they are too few and far between . I like the 2 and 3 for this : parts can interchange , the mid size and full sizes have the front of the grip cut out making a mag change easier , the magazine releases are smaller and harder to accidently depress , I have never had a gen 2 or 3 rust , and they are just a proven design .

Gen 2-3 for the best triggers and 9mm.
gen 4 for 40SW

No experience with 45 or 10mm glocks.

I like Gen 4's for the ability to change the size of the grip. They all work the same for me so its really the only difference between them in my eyes.

Gen 4, for the user-replaceable backstraps and the frame texture and the bigger surface area of the mag release button.

Gen 4 by a slight nod, for having a smaller grip that fits my hand better. Still, I have no plans to part with my Gen 3s. I've yet to have either rust, and have never accidentally released a magazine while shooting although I did once have a Gen 3 with an extended slide release unseat the mag when paired with a certain holster.

I've handled Gen 3s and Gen 4s. I've only ever shot a Gen 4. With that caveat, I'm awfully fond of my Gen 4, and that's what I'd go with if I were in the market for a new Glock.

Gen 4, mostly because of the texture on the grip. It is so much better for me than the "slick" Gen 3 grip panels. Also, I think the finger grooves are either shaped differently or moved slightly on the Gen 4 guns, and they just fit my hand better. I also strongly prefer the Gen 4 mag release. I couldn't care less about the interchangeable backstraps, since I prefer the standard Gen 4 grip without any of them. I also don't care about the recoil spring change or the slightly different finish on the slide. So really, the grip texture and the mag release are the only "improvements" I see in the Gen 4 guns.

For me, definitely Gen4. My hands aren't the largest so I'd never owned a glock. Until the Gen4 changes with a slightly smaller grip without any back straps installed. They fit my hand well, I currently have a g19 and a g26. Both gen4 and the 26 is my EDC

Gen 4, comes with the backstrap that I like, comes with the extra mag, the texture as well.

Well, damn son. You needa get you one!!!

Not gonna happen... All the Glocks and lowly XDs currently in the collection, are it. Never again will a plastic fantastic enter this abode.

(Yes I know I have said that before. I really mean it this time...)

When I went to buy a G-26 I was buying a 4th gen until I found that I could still get a new gen 3. I didn't care for the rough grip of the 4th gen. I also had parts left from a previous gen 3. I have since discovered Talon grips so it wouldn't matter so much now. The Talon grips did a great job of covering the super rough texture of my XDS.

I like the Gen 3's, they fit my hands fine and I see no need for the extra panels the 4's come with.

I really like the RTF2 versions. Wish they would, at least, offer it as an option.

Im not looking for anything special, just a box stock Glock with RTF2 and night sights. :)

Voted two (no finger grooves).

Gen 4's texture and Light Rail with Gen 2's trigger and grip shape would be perfect for me.

As the FBI tends to be a trend setter and had the "No Finger Grooves" actually specified in it's latest pistol bid, I'm betting Glock eventually moves to that shape at some point.
