Which generation of Glock is your favorite?

I'm gonna say Gen 3 for 9mm, Gen 4 for .40. The gen 4 spring is tailored for the .40 cartridge.

The ones without the finger grooves.

Glock should enclose a Dremel with sanding discs with their guns these days.

Does anyone know how much longer Glock will be making the Gen three pistols?

As far as I know, as of right now anyway they are not going to stop making them. I think they know how many people like the gen 3, and since the gen 4 has had some issues, if they di stop making them I think it will be a little while down the road.

That's good to hear, as I still need to pick up a G23 before that happens. It would make a nice partner for my G19. It's not that I have a serious reason to not like the Gen4s, it's just personal preference.

I prefer the Generation 3 guns myself as that is what I have. I would not hesitate to recommend a generation 4 gun as some would. Really a Glock is a Glock, no real differences in the guns in my opinion other than the grips and rail.

But if I had to choose, Gen 2. No stupid rail, although I kind of like the finger grooves.

I have never understood comments like this. How on earth does the so-called "stupid rail" get in your way. Granted, I never use any of my pistol rails, but I can see no reason not to have them. It's not like they add size or weight to the gun.

My G22 has no rails or finger grooves. Whatever Gen it is, its never jammed or malfunctioned in 11 years so Im keeping it. The old magazines still work well. I bought new mags for it but never used them.

Just bought a 19 Gen4 yesterday, picking it up Friday (waiting period...sigh).

The shop had Gen 3 19's that were trade-ins, so I got to do a side-by-side comparison, which was really nice.

The Gen 3's were in great shape, with night sights and 1 mag, for $479.

The Gen4 was through the GSSF discount, blue label package for $450 with case, 3 mags, speedloader, brush, backstraps, etc - the usual Glock Gen4 package.

I noticed that the grip for the Gen 3 was bigger than the Gen 4, and I liked the smaller grip (or at least the option to have a smaller grip with the Gen4, then use the backstrap for the Gen3 size if I wanted).

I also liked the tactile feel of the texture on the Gen 4 vs. the Gen 3. My biggest hesitation with getting the Gen 4 is that the Gen 3 is so well used and tested.

I fully expect to be happy with the Gen 4, or if nothing else I'll contact Glock and they'll work with me to be happy - if it requires a different spring or whatever, so be it.

Overall I think I like the Gen 4 better, but wouldn't hesitate getting a Gen 3 as well - i might pick up a Gen 3 30SF sometime.

Once I get the 19 to the range, I'll know more about how I really feel - but quite excited to be getting my first Glock.

I've only owned a gen3 19 and gen4 17. I wish I hadn't sold the gen4 17 because I like it better.

Gen. 2. No grip grooves, no cockamamie rail like today's abominations of all brands. They all look like the CEO took some guy who had never seen a gun gun and told him to "make me a pistol".
