So will an original RTF2. esp a "Gill" model.
Yea, Im sure.

I have two RTF2 "gilled" 17's. They are the two I normally carry.

They are also the only two I have that I havent stippled. Fine stippling is about the closest you get to the RTF2. Both work great too.

I have one that has real fine stippling with finger grooves removed, yet I still dont like it as much as I do my 17 Gilly. Would like to have a gen4 rtf2 frame though.

Gen 4, its just small enough in the grips without the insert to let me shoot it effectively out of the box.

GEN4, back straps, texture, beavertail, Larger mag release............I like them all better on Gen4. Also, I think the triggers are more consistent on the Gen4 guns. The other Gens seemed to be really hit or miss with the triggers.

Have a Gen.1 and like it just the way it is; no finger grooves or stippling. If I had to choose one today I would probably go with the updated Gen.4 design.

I prefer the Gen 2, the Glock that built the reputation of reliability. Early gen 3 pistols are also acceptable. However, anybody else notice that a lot of the brass to face problems started around the 2008 year production? Ironically, that's the same year Imam Obama was elected and everything else in the country has generally gone to **** too. Coincidence???;)

Personally, the coincidence leans heavily to the fact that it's when is they moved to MIM small parts. Course thats just me.

The USN seal teams are going to start using Gen 3 G19s.

I think that should end the argument right there.

Where bean counters and politicians come within arm's reach, gun knowledge may not necessarily be the driving factor.

Plus, the ideal gun for a Navy SEAL is not the ideal gun for me.

I like 4 for the grip texture and larger mag release. I actually kind of dislike the backstraps though since I run it with the medium/standard size, but I think it is valuable to others.

From what I understand, the SEAL's weapons and gear are not affected by the "bean counters and politicians", like the regular military's is.
If they're using the G19, it's because they want to, and that's probably because they're light, and they simply WORK.

Good thing I'm not a SEAL, I can use something else! :p

Gen 2 for me. Just feels right.

Being behind the lines in CA, Gen 3 is the most available. I got a G41 Gen4 before the door closed last year, and like it fine - but not enough to swap out the dozen Gen3s I have, even if the SSE exemption was still in effect.

All I own have been accurate enough, completely reliable, and ugly as a mud fence.

Gen 3 for me. I've got a Gen3 19 and 30SF, they both shoot lights out. I do agree with a few that said that in .40 go with the Gen 4. RTF doesn't mean much to me, my hands literally don't sweat. I owned a G21 gen4 and still couldn't grip it good enough to get solid consistant groups.

WOW, guess I'd better sell or trade all mine for a g3g19. So I can be cool too...

Gen 2 because I don't like the finger grooves. The rail is an unesthetic waste for me, since I'm never going to put a light on a handgun I own.

I own two Glocks, a 19 and a 22, both of them 2nd Gen.

Gen 4;
Dual spring recoil system
Left or right mag release
Thinner overall grip
Best for large hands
More pronounced beavertail

*Same crappy plastic sights.

9mm...Gen 2 because I don't need a rail; early Gen 3 if I needed a WML
.40...Gen 4 because they finally addressed their feeding issues with WML

I've shot all the different model 9mm Glocks from Gen 1 through Gen 4 and all the .40 Glocks from Gen 2 through Gen 4. Fit to my hand has never been an issue, so the Gen 4 offers no advantage to me. I can take or leave finger grooves and rails. My primary concern is always reliability

I prefer the 9mms that have extractors with a more secure grasp on the rims than the later Gen 3 or Gen 4

The new recoil system of the Gen 4 has finally addressed the feeding issues of prior .40 Glocks when you attach a weapon mounted light to the rail

And in turn, my gear is not selected by special operators.

Either way, silly to think that in the span of a couple weeks SIGS have been "demoted" and Glocks that have been around for 20+ years have suddenly gained a halo shine... all because of something the Navy did.

Ummm....everyone has a different size hand and an idea of what ergonomics work best for them. I couldn't care less what military, law enforcement or anyone else uses. It's about what handgun fits my hand the best. In the case of a Glock it's a Gen3. Needs to be the standard frame which is why I have a G20SF.

Thanks for the replies and responses . I just cant get used to the large magazine release button on the Gen 4's. I was holding some money for the new Ruger American but I shot one and it was terrible. So I got to thinking that I didn't have a Glock 19 . So I used my Ruger fund money to get a new Gen 3 G19 . I am a happy boy ! I've been using a G17 , G22 , and G21 for so long that this G19 feels as small as a G26 .
