Guys if you're having trouble finding powder or primers you like, find the next Eastman gun show near you. I'm not usually one for gun shows but I went with a friend to the one in Savannah today. My head was spinning at all the Hodgdon, Alliant, and Winchester they had. So many powders I haven't seen on shelves or in stock online anywhere locally and they had them all right there under one roof. I wasn't currently in the market for any but I went ahead and bought a few of the ones I knew I'd never find around here. Prices were really fair as well especially since one of the vendors wasn't charging sales tax.

I've been to a couple gun shows in the past six months. seems to be plenty of powder there and it seems to stay in stock at $25-27/lb or 180-200 per keg. I would buy at these prices if I really needed it but I have found much better deals by watching armslist and working trades. considering I will be good for another 5 years, ive told myself to hold off on powder and primers for atleast a couple years.

I was never a big fan of gun shows either - until I went to one. Great deal on powder and a great opportunity to heft an antique.

I'm the opposite, I go to every local gun show, as it is only minutes away from me. I usually have something in mind that I need, but mainly I just like to walk around and look at old guns. And taste the jerky samples. :D

There is one reloading vendor that I will always give my business. He is not local to me, he is about 2 hours away, so the gun show is where I like to deal with him. His prices are the best, and I can call him up ahead of time to ask about his stock, he will hold it for me at the show.

Id rather pay hazmat fee than scum show entrance fee. Just me.

Hazmat is usually over $30

My entry fee to the show was $10

I also got to enjoy myself browsing guns, accessories, and reloading supplies for a couple hours, so I wouldnt have felt it was a scum fee even if I didnt buy anything.

I'm not seeing your point here?

I've bought lots of powder at gun shows. I will walk around and find the cheapest and get their's. I also buy magazines and other stuff gun related, as well as guns. I do lots of research on what I'm looking for and if I can get a good cash deal, well I go for it. I've also purchased primers and actually paid less than any lgs or online. Matter of fact, a few months ago I picked up some CCI No 41 for only $26 per K, and that is with tax. I may pay a few dollars more per pound of powder, but with no hazmat or tax, it comes out pretty good.

I have been busy trying out different pistol powders. I buy only one pound of something until I figure out whether I am going to like it or not, so buying online is prohibitive due to the hazmat fee.

I've collected a lot of powders at the local gun shows. :D

One of these days I'm going to have to remember to tell the guy I buy powder from that I think he might be maybe supposed to be charging Hazmat. Note to Self...

Things have been returning to the shelves and becoming available again. For those caught short this last time around keep in mind how fragile the system is. It does not take much to induce a panic buy and it can very easily happen again. While we are seeing an increase in the overall cost of items like primers and powder I suggest people get what they can while they can.

Toprudder, hidden in the photo is a warm fuzzy feeling that if things go south again you will be set for at least a few days anyway :) . Anytime I am out and about if I see components at a good price I buy them. May not need them at the moment but if it is something I use, I buy it.

That is the plan!! I figure, at the rate I have been going, that I should have enough powder to last through 8 years of another liberal administration.

I got started in this during the "big scare" and stuff was hard to find. When something would become available, I would buy a pound and try it to see what caliber(s) it worked well with. I have load data that I can use as a reference, and when I find something that I really like, I pick up more when I find a good deal.

Some of those powders in the photo I will use up and not get anymore - unless I have to. But, using it up should keep me busy for a while. :D
