From what I understand, Keanu is training for a role (John Wick?).

The place he was training posted this yesterday;

Looks pretty dang good from where I'm sitting!

Anyone know if he's made any public statements about pro/anti stance?

i would honestly find it very hard to believe someone would spend all that time and effort training....and honestly getting really good at it....if they were terribly "anti gun"......

I'll hot link that for ya ;)

Warning NSFW language if you play it:

She had to get that wall-cartwheel thing done right on the first take, BTW. They "could" reset but it would have set production back a month if she biffed it. :)

What's the story on his swinging the rifle around behind him...instant DQ for safety in every scenario I shot...but I never shot a stage where rifles were on sling. Is this normal or did my spider senses immediately pick up on an issue?

WestKentucky yeah that would be a DQ on a 3 gun event. Every one I've done you have to have the chamber locked open w/ no mag when you dump it in a barrel muzzle down.

But if he's training for a movie on a closed range?

I don't see anything particularly wrong about it.

Ok, I read 3 gun and assumed competition, thought that would be a safety dq, his pistol reholster looks questionable too but I didn't watch that too close. Closed range though the only people in danger are shooter and cameraman. No harm no foul.

What, you don't think Cameramen's Lives Matter?

Training for realistic gunhandling is good for an actor portraying a murderer, I guess.
I always check up on actors making money by popping blanks.

Q: "Do you think violence is sometimes a solution to crime? And what do you think about people owning guns?"

Keanu Reeves: "I do think violence is sometimes a very practical solution but I don't think it is the ultimate solution. Owning a gun is not OK for me. But I could argue both sides. Why shouldn't people own them? I'm not fundamentally against citizens having access to a weapon but I think it has complications. It's probably not the wisest idea. Obviously, it has consequences. Personally, I do not own a weapon."

That's way better than Liam Neeson, but he's no Tom Selleck, either.

Only the bank heist scene in Heat is better.

Yes, indeed. I remember hearing they brought in an ex SAS guy to get the sound effects, etc correct on that scene.

Yeah that statement was 4 years ago. Before SH, and the huge push on gun control.

With so many celebrities jumping on the anti-gun bandwagon following SH, it is somewhat telling there's nothing newer out there.

What I'm reading out of it is "that's not my fight and I'm staying out of it."

I can respect that position. All too often both sides look at things in black & white instead of the myriad shades of gray the issue truly is. Sometimes, taking a stand on neutrality takes more strength than blindly following in lock step with one side.

Agreed.

We sometimes forget that it's not a simple dichotomy. If I had to guess, I'd say in a population of 320 million, we probably have 70 or 80 milion "pro gun", 40 or 50 million "anti gun", and the other ~200 million are just "non-gun" people who may lean a bit one way or the other, but spend little (if any) time considering the matter, let alone allowing it to influence their lives..

He's made enough money shooting guns in films to best keep his mouth shut if he wants to bash guns.

Like this guy?
“Well, I would love it if they could take all the guns away. Unfortunately, you can’t do that so you hope that good people in the world have them to protect the people who can’t protect themselves,” he said in an April 26, 2007, edition of the Herald Sun. “Certainly, I haven’t used a gun anywhere other than on a movie set and I’d like to see if we could take them all away. It would be a beautiful thing.”

Umm... convicted felon tv/movie star...isn't it another felony to be in possession of a firearm, even when on a film set? Most blank guns started life as real guns therefore it is a firearm. Not that I want to push the matter, just making a point...his background should eliminate him from a lot of roles he likes to play.

His guns are all fake guns in the movies. His felony conviction was when he was young, a teenager.

Deaf, I do believe that most guns in the movies are the real thing. Technically, Wahlburg would be a felon in possession if so.

But he's hollywood, and gets a pass.

I wish I could shoot like Reeves. That's impressive skill for someone who seems ambivalent regarding gun ownership. If his comments are 4 years old, perhaps his views have moved more toward ours now that he's invested what must have been a lot of practice time into honing his skills. I know my view is from a pro gun standpoint, but I just don't see how you could get that good and not take pride in the accomplishment, and therefore become more pro gun.

I've liked a lot of Wahlberg's action movies, but that comment is very disappointing. I can't stand hypocrites, even actors who are playing parts. If they had integrity, they wouldn't play a part that contradicts their beliefs. Yeah, I know....it's just their job, acting for money. But it perpetuates that nasty gun culture they're so against.

No, they had an article about Wahlberg's guns used in the movies. They are all fake so he does not run afoul with the law.

And he is involved with a movement to get congress to fund the rights restoration of convicted felons.

I can get behind rights restoration. The turd is out of the punch bowl if he is truly staying in line with the law and is active in rights restoration movements.

With that sling it would be pretty hard to do a 3 gun clear and leave the gun. So he is not doing 3 gun. He's probably working out the mechanics of a scene from John Wick 2.
