I convinced myself of the "need" for this:

http://palmettostatearmory.com/fn-pistol-fns-40s-w-ss-w-night-sights-66759.html

$360 for a quality pistol, two tone, with 3 mags AND night sights.

I never wanted a .40S&W pistol, but for that price I'll get one. I would gather that if I no longer wanted it, I could easily sell it for what I have into it. There are still some available.

PSA earlier this morning blew out the all black version for $320, they didn't last long.

All I need is some .40S&W ammo now.

Yeah, I noticed they were $319 this morning, $360 out the door.

Last week I bought one, for $359, ended up at $400 out the door.

Figured this would happen, lol. Can't predict stuff like this.

Its a phenomenal gun for $360.

Yeah, my FFL charges $20 for transfers so it will be $397 when all is said and done. I wonder if PSA will blow out the two tone FNS 40s now?

Still a quality pistol with 3 mags and night sights for $400 is an incredible deal.

I don't buy a gun and start monkeying around with its internal workings unless it is to remove a magazine disconnect.

Don't worry, as you are probably aware, it is absolutely not necessary in any way

What kind of night sights does FN put on their pistols? Trijicon, Truglo, Ameriglo?

I have both an FNS-40 and an FNS-40L (long slide). I got both in trades from a local forum member. Both have good triggers, but the long slide has had a trigger upgrade from some gunsmith in Colorado. (The original owner couldn't give me the details when I asked... he travels a lot and had the work done when he was in the area.)

Great guns. The "worked-over" trigger is noticeably better than the stock trigger, but both of them are pretty good.

I understand that one of the after-market gun shops (like APEX, but not them) is working on developing trigger kits for the FNS line.

I also have a 40>9 conversion barrel for the FNS-40, and it shoots like a charm, and if you're doing nothing but hardball (round nose) rounds, the factory .40 mags work fine. If you've trying hollowpoint, the 9mm mags are needed. I picked up one, and will get another couple in the future.

Hickock45 has a pretty good review of the 9mm version on YouTube; he loves Glocks, but he also likes the FNS-40, a lot!!

Tell me about that barrel, link?

EFK Fire Dragon. I think this is the third barrel I've gotten from them and I've been pleased with all of them.

I had to wait a while, as like many of the barrel makers, they'll build a bunch, and then not make more for a while... I got on the waiting list, waited a couple of month; they emailed me, I paid, and had the barrel a couple of days later.

They appear to have some in stock, now. The FNS and FNX models use the same barrel. (They also share SOME magazines, but not across the board.)

I am on their email list. It's marked down to $319 now. I don't shoot 40cal. But it's making me consider one!

I've had a number of .40s over the years, and the only one I ever shot well was a CZ-40B, which I foolishly sold. I traded a Glock 35 with a lot of upgrades and an S&W M&P Pro with a LOT of Apex upgrade (both gotten in earlier trades) for the FNS-40 and FNS-40L.

In terms of value, I took a bit of a bath (but not in actual dollars, as I got those two guns in good trades) -- but I just didn't like them. (I do love my M&P Pro in 9mm, similarly equipped, and liked a Glock 34 I previously owned also using aftermarket parts. I'd kind of like to have the 34 back, but not if I have to give up the 9mm M&P Pro.)

I couldn't shoot either the Glock 35 or the .40 M&P worth a darn, but fell in love with the FNS 40s AFTER trying them out prior to the trade. IN dollars I lost, but in guns that shoot for me, I did well. And now, in effect, I have an FNS-"9" and an FNS-40L. I just need to pick up a couple more 9mm mags.

I must have put my order in at $359 just before they lowered the price. They still have a stainless slide version for $359 and $369.

The $369 has plain sights, and the $359 has night sights, whatever logic that is, but look identical otherwise. The $369 is free shipping. Mine cost $17 to ship, so you basically get night sights for $7 if you go for the $359 version.

My night sights are still pretty good. My fired case was dated April 2014. I ran 50 rounds of WWB through with no problems and decent accuracy. Brass throw was consistent to about 4:00.

has magazines for $28. I haven't received mine yet, and never dealt with this company before, so hopefully both will be good. They also have Serpa CQC holsters for the FNS and Blackhawk is running a rebate for another week.

Check PSA tomorrow, they often allocate a certain number of items for each day showing sold out one day and back the next until those are sold out.
