Hi gang,
I was just checking www.fnhusa.com & saw a few interesting items:

1) FNH is going to combine all US operations/plans into a new company; FN America. For now, FNHUSA.com will stay as the main US website for parts, firearms, service, etc.
2) FN America will roll out in early 2015 a new compact FNS pistol. It will be available in 9x19mm(9mmNATO) and .40S&W for now.
The guns will have the same details and formats as the larger FNS series. The new Compact pistols will also come with or without ambi safety controls too. ;)
That's a good idea for US customers & sworn LE officers who like a choice.
3) FN America will also start a Individual Officer sales program where qualified professionals(sworn LE officers, corrections, retired LE, prosecutors-DAs, federal agents, security/licensed, etc) can buy new fireaems at a lower rate. :D Other firms like Glock & SIG Sauer do this too. Check the site for information and dealers.
4) FN America will also lower the MSRP on new FNS series pistols for all US customers. This is for the standard black style pistols. Night sights might be more. Stainless slides might be higher than normal. I like the flat black & would consider a slick Cerakote or Metalife anyway.

FNSs aren't as popular as M&Ps, XDs, SIGs or Glocks but they are well made & have many good features for a carry or duty pistol.

Sounds good. I'm glad to hear that it sounds like the parts are going to be compatible with the FNH branded guns.

A compact 9 or .40 is on my 2015 wish list. I just dunno which yet;)

I really like the FNS pistols; but they are too blocky for everyday carry IMO. It would be nice if they could get black to the slimmer lines of the Hi-Power or even the BDM.

I have to see the new one in person, it's been for sale on slickguns for weeks, and Buds. I think it's kind of like a 26 with a few more rounds and weight.
With a glock 19 mag, you have pretty much the same thing, with less weight.
Or 12+1 with the Pierce extensions.
If you want a striker fired compact gun, why not stick with the original.

When I bought my fns, I sold my glocks. The fns is more comfortable in hand and I shoot it better.
While glocks are perfectly serviceable guns, I would take an fns over one any day.

I shot about 100 rds. through a buddy's FNS 9mm back in 2013. I loved the ergos, but the trigger was a tad squishy, not XD 'Sponge Bob', but squishy. That was my only complaint.

I also do not know how easy they are to totally disassemble as well as how well they hold up in the long run.

I've heard that for some reason the fns40 trigger is a bit better than the 9mm. That said, while I wouldn't write home about the trigger on my 40, I greatly prefer a gun with a smooth trigger instead of a blade.

I have no idea idea how hard it would take it down to detail as I generally don't take my guns down past field strip. Long term durability, they feel pretty solid to me with a good amount of steel on the rails. On top of that, the rails are replaceable. Still, for a $500 pistol, if I wear it out to that point I will feel that I've gotten my money's worth.

I really can't wait to get a compact 40. With the 3 mags I already have, I'll be set up with 6 total even if 3 of them won't have the finger extensions. I think it will be my first purchase of 2015 once I decide what to clear out to fund it.

Tough call.....

I'm looking into a new .40 or 9x19mm too for 2015.
I like the Glock 23 gen 04 but the M&P full size or this new compact FNS(with the safety for open carry/security details) could do very well.
I qualify for FN America's professional discount so that's a +. :D

Will take a look at the new compact model but have never really cared for the large (at least to me), squared-off design of the grip frame of the full size FNS/FNX.

Never handled a FNS but I'm very fond of my FNX-45. I had concerns about the grip pre-purchase but I find it to be very comfortable for me.
My only complaint is the combo decocker/safety. I wish it was decocker only like my Sig P220.
