Hey Folks!

I was fortunate enough today to see my oldest daughter hit her first bird-in-flight! Had both girls out on a pigeon hunting adventure, the oldest does the shooting and the youngest does the scouting/flushing. We brought along the cameras to make another episode for their "hunting and cooking" show:

Thanks for watching, and thanks for your comments. The girls and I have a gas reading them together.

Cheers,

Brobee

Neat video. The scenery really brought back some memories of the first time I ever fired a shotgun.

There is no better meal than one you took like that. Tell them congrats.

Neat video! Love it, and I appreciate that you teach your kids stuff. They appreciate it too.

Well done guys and gals:cool:

That's great, teaching kids how to feed themselves good for you.

I've never eaten pigeon but by the looks of it my Woodcock recipe would be the way I'd prepare it.

Don't know if I'd eat the city pigeons but wild free range yeah I'd give it a go.

That's great!
In our household, mom drew the line at cooking game, so dad cooked and taught all four of us boys to do the same. It's been 47 years since my first dove and dumplings recipe was served. Good job dad.

My kids love all your 'Cooking with Julia' vids. Keep 'em coming.

Boy can she shuck a second round in quick!! She runs that 870 faster than some grown men I know. Those follow-up shots were outstanding!

WHOA! EXXXTREME CUTE ALERT! :D Rachael Ray, Look out!
:what: But...You let those children play with GUNS and SHARP knives?:what: Oh, the Humanity! :D:D

Great video!:)

As the song said "Teach your children well" and you are doing it.

By waiting for the pigeon to clear; excellent fire control discipline and she cycled that 870 quicker than most..

My compliments to her and you..

My son (7) and I watched the squirrel pot pie episode when you posted it and thought it was great. We just watched this one and the red squirrel one as well as the one about her new deer rifle. Great videos! Tell her thanks for making these and keep them up!

wondering how you got them to flush and in the right direction. Great video and cute kids.

We scout the old buildings by figuring out where the holes are and which ones the birds are likely to use. We then flush them a couple times and see which way they fly. Finally we come back a couple days later and set up with this info in mind.

Sometimes we get busted big time with a different outcome, but very often it pans out something kinda close to "the plan".

That is great.
My Grandaughter started hunting with me as a tag-a-long at age 11 and enjoyed helping cook and serve our successes. Now she is 15 and lives 2000 miles away. Last time they were here during hunting season she got up morning after flying and arriving at 3am and her first words were "Let's go hunting!". I asked her what she wanted to hunt for. She said "Dinner!"
We had pheasant stir fry with rice.

Nice Video

Good going all around. Looks like everyone involved had a good time, and the girls are learning some skills that will remain useful forever.

My grandmother used to say that, " A country goes the way its women go..." I hope both our countries go the way of Julia and Savannah...You are really doing a great job with your kids...

Great story, and beautiful young ladies. We are looking for two granddaughters to adopt. Both of our grands are boys.
:)

Have a blessed day,

Leon

Hey Brobee,

My wife and I loved the videos. We noticed that as the girls signed off and the video came to an end, they were still chewing. My brother and I were invited to thin the large flock of pigeons that had infested our friend's barn. We killed several so we cleaned them and brother's wife cooked them. They were like shoe leather...actually, I take that back; shoe leather would be better. they were totally inedible. The cats wouldn't eat them, but a late night possum gobbled them up. Keep them vids coming.

Mr. Huntsman:Don't know if I'd eat the city pigeons but wild free range yeah I'd give it a go. If you ever have ordered Squab at a restaurant your eating Pigeon.
I've never eaten squab but my impression of city pigeons is that they're scrounges whereas country pigeons eat like doves, weed seeds and grain.
