44 Magnum Big Boy Steel/Burris Fastfire 3 (great brush gun)

Sold my old Henry Big Boy brass many years back, but felt a call to buy a Henry when they came out with their steel series, particularly since I wanted to mounted a red dot.

For shooting from the bench, the trigger is very light and crisp, and it is quite accurate and comfortable to shoot (6+1 capacity)

I've heard a lot about the Fastfires, and I can now see the appeal. My only grip is they are not cheap, and the button to turn them on is a little difficult to engage :)

Makes me a believer in what a 44 mag carbine can accomplish again. Wild hog on the list next.

Nice compact set-up; with the Burris Fastfire 3 a great choice for a woodland/heavy brush gun.

Thanks! There is something nostalgic about a lever action 44 magnum I can't quite explain. Maybe a throwback to a day when you used just enough gun to get the job done instead of overdoing it all the time. Of course, current 44 magnum loads are pretty potent.

I like your setup. I have a Fastfire III on a pistol, and I have been quite happy with it.
With optics, you really get what you pay for. The Fastfire III is not cheap, but I think it is a reasonable value for the quality you get.

I know many people think that an optic destroys the look of a lever action, and I used to share this viewpoint. But as my eyes have aged, my opinion has changed. Now when I see an optic on a lever action, I see an owner who wants a lever action that he can really shoot. And the optic you have chosen looks good, shoots well, and maintains the balance of the rifle. That rifle is going to be a lot of fun to shoot.
