Greetings,

Stupid question from a neophyte: Does an Henry big boy .44 Magnum rifle uses the same cartridge I use in my Revolver Super Redhawk? I reload, so do I use the same recipee too?

Thank you

WRT recipes, the answer depends...

You might find a recipe that shoots very accurately in one, but not so well in the other, for example.

But in a general sense, you can use the same recipes, just like you can drop in the same factory cartridges in each gun.

AFAIK the Redhawk can stand up to some really hot loads that the Henry's pretty brass might not tolerate.

I would check with the mfgr. or the rifle's book to see if it's ok to use with 'Ruger only' loads if those are what u are using.
Standard pressure loads, the answer is yes.

Oh yeah.

More like "Ruger and Marlin" if you're counting lever guns.

There are even some commercial loads like that, but nothing mass-produced.

Greetings,

Sooooooooooo???? In the same line, do the rifles 357 magnum accepting the same .357 magnum cartridges than my revolver does?

Thank you

Yes.

Again, if you are loading or buying extra-hot loads (e.g. Buffalo Bore), not all revolvers and not all rifles are safe with them.

But standard .357 Magnum is the same in rifles and revolvers.

I had a supply of S&B .357 Magnum that had almost spitzer shaped bullets. I decided to be on the safe side and only fire them from my revolvers and not in my 94 Trapper.

Henry rifles are nice when new, but they can shoot loose in a hurry. Avoid all really stout loads with it. I'd suggest sticking to .44 Specials.
We sell these things and we've had customers with issues within one year.

George, Can you explain what you mean by "shoot loose"? I recently purchased a Henry Big Boy and I am pretty much a novice with lever action rifles. What is considered a "stout load"?
