The only one I am familiar with is the PSA offering. They have good stuff and if something is wrong with it they will take care of you.

I'd skip the nickel boron. The plating can cause issues that qc won't catch at this price point such as plating being misapplied and causing the ejector to not function. Plus, for me anyway, I just don't really gain anything.

I'd go with the nickle boron. The company AIM surpluss is using is the same as the Fail Zero ones. They will be a lot easier to clean and run great. I do lubricate mine (they say you don't have to) and never had an issue. My cousin has that AIM BCG and loves it after about 2K to 2.1K rounds. The ones I have bought are M16 carriers that are fully shrouded, which is how I like them.

Personally have not seen a plating issue. But then I've only got a little less than 8K rounds through my first one, the others have fewer than that. Unless it is a bargain build, I gotten where I always use them.

I have that bolt in another gun. No complaints.

Just wondered if the modern finishes etc were worth paying for. I have seen pictures of the nickel ones discoloring and doing weird things.

Bolts are not a place where I would recommend going cheap. Many, many of the failures I have had come in for repairs over the years are from broken lugs. The nickel or other coating bolts aren't any stronger, they're just slicker. If you care about accuracy and lap your lugs as you should, coated bolts are a no go.
