AR Build Troubleshoot

I recently put together a 20" barrel AR build. I used a contract fluted 20" barred with 1/8 twist from Classic Firearms, a no-name upper receiver from Primary Arms, a GunTec USA 15" rail, an AIM Surplus rifle gas tube, an APOC armory low-profile nitride gas block, a UTG/Leapers fixed A2 buttstock (including buffer spring and rifle buffer), an Anderson charging handle, a Fail Zero nickel boron bolt carrier group, and an Anderson lower receiver/parts kit.

I fired off twenty rounds. All rounds fired. 19 of cases did not eject after firing; if I recall, the spent casings remained in the chamber. One round ejected after firing, but did not pick up a new round from the magazine. The ammo are reloads that I made with 55gr bullets, 25gr H335, and a variety of casings; this ammo never gives me issues in my other ARs.

Anyone have any idea of what might be going on? I suspect that either there is an issue with the gas block and the gun is not getting enough gas to push the bolt carrier group back far enough or there is an issue with the UTG A2 buttstock/buffer/spring assembly. My other concern is that unlike most rail systems, the GunTec USA does not have a traditional barrel nut in which an AR wrench can be inserted and a torque wrench used to tighten to spec so you basically have to do it by feel and torque enough so that everything is aligned once the rail is installed; could I have possibly tightened it too much and it is causing issues?

Any diagnosis and solution is appreciated. Thank you.

What gas block did you use? I have had a few lo profile gas blocks that aren't spec'ed for a front grip plate and the gas port doesn't line up with the barrel port. Check that, that should explain your short stroke issue. Ive built a lot of ar rifle and pistols, and this has bit me before too.

Thanks guys. I'll check the gas block. I suspect it's a gas block issue as I don't think the bolt carrier group is being pushed back much, if any, after the shots even though I can manually cycle just fine.

I'll add to what the other guys said, most likely it's under gassed. Also besides the gas block alignment, check out the size of the gas port in the barrel. One of the guys at work recently had 2 barrels (from the same company) that had issues cycling and it turned out both had undersized gas ports......

I checked Classic website, they show several 20" fluted barrels, rifle length gas system, majority have .085" gas port diameter which is at the small side accordingly to what Tactical Machining compiled. One Spiral Fluted, SS Black Nitride Wydle chamber, shows 0.093" gas port which is about right. Tactical shows 0.0935" - 0.098". Appears to be from Micro MOA.

I checked AIM's website, they have Faxon 20" barrel and it has 0.093" gas port.
It is still more like gas blockage or gas leak. Check blockage/leak first. Gas block typically has a gas hole much larger than gas port, gas block blockage would be obvious. I would say gas leak.
