I own a number of firearms and consider a premium trigger of top importance. I love Anschutz and Cooper bolt actions especially those with "break like crystal" two stage triggers. If the triggers are not what I hope for in a particular gun, I have replaced many with Jard, Timney, Zev (Glocks) and so forth.

This will be my first foray into an AR styled rifle, so the trigger systems in these firearms are largely unknown to me. Several reviews faulted the trigger on the Ruger SR-762 to be really terrible and over 8# pull weight. Said the gun was great for the money, but the trigger sucks big time. I figured by the guns design, trigger replacement may be a simple two pin removal and drop in...no biggie.

HOWEVER, Ruger's website is describing this trigger as a crisp, clean two stage trigger that will break at 4.5 lbs. Well, this is a far cry from the reviews I am reading so wonder what gives here. Is it possible that Ruger has addressed this original trigger and made modifications?

Thanks!

Are you sure you aren't confusing those reviews with the DI guns? Ruger also makes a gas AR setup with milspec single stage triggers that pull around 7-8# and feel kinda gritty. That may be what the reviews your reading are referring to. As far as their piston rifles they have a very nice trigger from the factory and I've heard very little complaint. Both the Ruger SR762 and S&W M&P10 are excellent AR style .308/7.62x51 battle rifles. Excellent accuracy, reliability, decent price for the type of rifle etc.

I bought an SR762 about 3 years ago, the trigger was very much like a milspec trigger. It was gritty and heavy. After switching it out for a Geissele SSA I could easily hit MOA groups with handloads. It's a very accurate piston gun, well worth what I paid for it.

Yes sir, this is exactly what the reviewer(s) said. I had pre-sold myself on this SR-762, so I figured I would drop in a Jard or Geissele and add a couple of bills to the investment. Then I started looking over Ruger's current literature and the trigger says 4.5 lb, two stage. Wait, something is wrong here so I ended up calling Ruger. Yes, we modified the trigger on this firearm at the end of '15, and by early '16 new triggers were shipped on all the new guns. I called the dealer I had selected, and he verified that the new trigger is on the Ruger he has available. Seems like they smoothed off the rough edges and made this a real winner!!

Seems like Ruger has done this with a lot of their new guns. Originally quite a few of their offerings had terrible triggers and now days it seems the triggers are one of the most praise worthy items on a new Ruger. I chose the M&P10 for my AR10 platform simply because I already had a few M&P15s and love them, but I have a new Ruger American Predator in 6.5 Creed that is a 1/2 MOA gun out
Of the box. I also pretty much hate .380 as a caliber but I just bought a new LCP2 as a sweatpants pocket pistol for walking the dog and such. The sole reason for this purchase was after seeing the new model and feeling how great the trigger was and now light the gun is. That plus getting it for $199 with 2 mags and a holster and I just had to "pull the trigger". Good luck with your rifle!

I would not expect great things from the stock Ruger trigger. However, it is very easy to swap triggers on the AR10/15. My personal preference is the AR Gold trigger.
