Home Defense.

I would be interested to know how many shots it took. I'll bet he didn't have many left when it was over. In any case, facing down two knife wielding attackers in close quarters isn't a gimme no matter how you cut it. Liberals simply don't realize the difficulty of defending against multiple assailants, and just how fast a thirty round magazine can go dry under such circumstances.

I've heard of many AR's being used in HD. It's a rather common gun here in Texas and just like any firearm it will do the job if the shooter does theirs.

A read of the actual police report WOULD be enlightening. I also note it's a teenager with an evil back rifle, everything the Left is terrified of, and the kid did the right thing, judging solely on what we have been told so far.

Agreed - long ways from the first documented home defense with an AR. I'd venture you'd find it's not even the first documented case in 2017.

The first use of an AR for home defense I recall reading about was the riots in 1992, in which home and business owners succeeded where overwhelmed LAPD failed to contain the rioters. Many of the self-defenders were pictured in press as armed with AR's, AK's, and Mini's... But that is only the first I personally remember, and I venture there were many more before that as I was very young reading that. I also seem to recall a picture of an AR propped inside the door of his home appearing in Malcolm X's biography, so their use was at least mainstream by then such Mr. X would follow trend to use one.

It's a miracle the teen in this new story was successful, but unfortunate for his soul to have been forced to take the life of others to defend his own.

One report in the National Media said, this is the same assault rifle used to kill 20 children at Sandy Hook. I hope the victim is not blamed.

everything the Left is terrified of

I own an AR, support the 2nd and my fellow citizen's RKBA and I have a few left of center beliefs, like clean air and water.

I wish you guys would quit burying these partisan turds in every thread and stay on point with the mission of The High Road. There are plenty of radical fringe forums out there for that.

This one is supposed to be ABOVE the childish and brainless name calling.

That said, I'm glad the victims of the break in are safe and had the tools to do so.

This is why I keep my PTR-91 ready for home defense. It is loaded with Hornady TAP 110 grain Urban .308 rounds that penetrate no more than a tactical .223/5.56 load but produce much more damage on impact. It's a great HD rifle with this load IMHO. This article proves why a semi-auto rifle is ideal for home defense.

I actually heard of one case where an AR 15 prevented a home invasion, where the bad guys were in the process of breaking in and saw the homeowner in his living room with an AR and beat it for the hill country.

I feel sorry for the shooter. From the story, it sounds as if the police in Broken Arrow have no problem with this being self-defense, so there shouldn't be any criminal charges, but the victims' families are going to sue for wrongful death - and even if the shooter prevails, he's still got to endure the trial and then be strapped with debt for the legal fees.

Not in Oklahoma. If it's a clean shoot the families of the thugs are SOL. They can't sue the young man or his family.
