I am looking into removing the gas block on a Colt LE6920 and am wondering if anyone has attempted to do this before. The pins appear to be soldered in place. Does anyone know which direction they push out?

On my Colt--drive them out from right to left (looking from underneath, muzzle forward)

You might try heating the area a bit first with a propane torch.

Thanks, M1key. I figured I would have to heat them up first to break the solder joint. Any idea if it is a 1 or 2 port design?

What is the reasoning for removing? If it is just for handguards I would suggest shaving the FSB down instead of removing. That way you still have a pinned block and it's cheaper. Now if you want an adjustable gas block for suppressor use etc it would need removed

The pins should not be soldered in. They should drive right out.
But they should be taper pins which means they only drive out from one direction. You should be able to tell the large end from the small end and put the punch on the small end to drive them out. You need to support the FSB and whack the punch pretty hard.

In any case heating it to about 500 F should help, in case some yahoo though Loc-Tite was a good idea here.

Any idea if it is a 1 or 2 port design?
What is a 1 or 2 port design? I've never heard of this.
