I have the Remington TAC14. First thing I did was fabricate a strap for the forend, using the M-Lok slots.
Brought it to the range and shot:
3" 00 Magnum
2 3/4" 00
2 3/4" Reduced Recoil 00
1 oz Slugs
Target loads #8 shot.
I was shocked! Those 3" magnums were left over from when I got my Mossberg Defense shotgun. I swore I'd never shoot them because they hurt me so bad in the stocked shotgun.
In the TAC14 they were manageable. Quite the opposite of what I was expecting.
The slugs were a breeze after the 3" magnums. Hitting the target wasn't a problem, but hitting the center of the target took some practice.
The 00 2 3/4" went easy enough.
The reduced recoil 00 is what I'll use in this thing. Really speeds up follow up shots.
The target loads were just for more practice. I was having so much fun I shot a whole box.
Overall, easier to manage the recoil than in my Mossberg with a stock, but harder to score accurate hits.
I was really glad I added the strap, and would not try one without that modification.
