I had an R1 a few months after they came out. It shot real nice for an inexpensive 1911, "they were a lot more than now". But still cheap. One day a guy asked me if I would trade him even for a 40 EMP, "basically new", he had trouble with the slide , "racking it". So I did.
When the Carry model came out at 1,200 bucks, I really liked the clean lines, but they wanted 12-1300 for the gun, and that was just too much. At the time a TRP was the same price.
So I always kept it in the back of my head, and watched for a few years as the price fell. The other night up it comes on slickguns, for a rediculous price, like half of what it was before. So I grabed it.
Haven't got it yet, but hoping it is still a solid gun. The thing sold out in 5 minutes. There were 6 posts "guys pissed off they missed it", I guess they just wanted to discontinue carrying them.
I figured the worse that could happen is it takes a trip back toRemington, if it's a dud.
Any guys have experience with them? One thing I learned about slickguns is if they put up a real deal, you better move on it fast. Like the K6 for $699 for the $899 dollar one, I missed that one.
I figured at a low price like 5-600 dollars the worse thing that can happen is you sell it after a while and get to use it for free, best case is you have a great 1911 for 1/2 msrp for life.
