Trash Talk During Competition

I forgot to mention one other important factor in this situation; one of the "thirtysomethings" is friends with the range owner. He is aware of the problem and doesn't consider it serious enough to eject the shooters. We are a small club, and we need his range more than he needs us. If we cross him , we could lose our shooting venue.
Big factor there. Kind of reminds me of working with a boss' kid. Can't get rid of him, just have to deal with his crap. The range owner needs a lesson in business 101 if members are truly leaving because of these jokers.

There's no room for the behavior mentioned in the OP.

I don't tolerate stuff like that. It's too easy for me to be somewhere else, where idiots like those aren't. I'll patronize another range and spread the word. It's the same thing with gunshops - if I feel unwelcome due to incivility, I'll spend my dollars elsewhere.

It seems to me that you have two options. If the situation can change, either by enforcing the rules when they act up, the owner taking some sort of action, them leaving, etc., I'd stick it out. If it's apparent that it's not going to change, I'd find somewhere else or move forward with your own club. When we go to the club we belong to, it's to take a few hours to enjoy ourselves. I wouldn't be a member if the behavior you're describing occurred there.

It should be pointed out to the range owner that if someone is injured because of the jerk antics by these morons, a shark attitude attorney will definitely be looking at him as the object of a law suit. Even if he has a liability insurance policy for the range that doesn't necessarily protect his personal assets from a law suit. Lawyers go where the money is.

I most strongly agree with those who say trash talking fellow shooters at a shooting competition is extremely poor sportsmanship and has the potential for a possible accident due to the distraction caused by these morons. If the owner won't do anything about them I would search for a new venue to shoot at and let him know why. If enough shooters do this maybe he'll get the message.

seems like these fellows arent thinking well. besides the obvious of good sportmanship, maturity and even the rule book.

even friends and buddies can take offense to trash talk once in awhile and with loaded gun in hand, just a bad idea. reminds me of folks playing homemade bombs and fireworks. sooner or later something bad is gonna happen........

During shooting competition these two members shout disparaging comments at the shooters.
Generally I have only seen this type behavior demonstrated at baseball games with the disparaging comments aimed (no pun intended) at the batter. Seriously if this sort of behavior needs to end it is time for a rangemaster or club official to send this message to those doing it. All that is required is enough concerned members bringing it to the attention of those in charge. That should be all that is required.

Another thought occurred to me just now. Damage your hearing so much you need hearing aids, then have your ENT Doctor make you some custom plugs so you don't damage what little you have left. At that point you have to get the RO to hold the timer next to your ear and or have him tap your shoulder at the beep.
