Remington 700 Remage Project (warning pic heavy)

Back in the late '90's, a shooting buddy of mine had Sako 75's in .17Rem., .22BR, and 6mmBR. The 6mmBR was our favorite.
Using Lee dies, Sako brass, CCI SBR primers, and Euber 65gr bullets, it shot one-hole groups. Scary easy to do. I always thought the 6mmBR should have gotten more traction as a factory offering.
I've long wanted to build a 6mmBR on a Rem Mod-7 with a 20"bbl with 1/8" twist.
I've got a Rem Mod-7 in .223Rem that craters primers. Now I know why!

OP:
Nice shooting!

Goose Gestapo:
Agreed. And review the 6 Norma BR’s ballistics compared to the .243 Win. It makes it difficult to understand how it has not caught-on better for factory hunting loads, and for more factory match loads.

re: 6mmBR, I agree, with a fast twist barrel. The 6br with a 87gr bullet would do all what I'd want a 6mm to do. And shoot bug-holes, too!
But the last two .243's I owned did that too. I believe the 6mm Creedmoor will eventually be the better cartridge.

Truly motivated by this thread. This past weekend I dropped a Model Seven off at the gunsmith to have the barrel removed and the action trued. I'll be ordering a Remage barrel in .243 Ackley Improved for a lightweight hunting rig. May have to start another thread when I get all the parts back and ready for assembly. Thanks again for a great thread!

If the thread is modified when truing the action, you may have to discuss it with the Remage barrel vendor.

Thought of that; thanks. We're leaving the barrel threads alone, just squaring the face of the action and the bolt, and lapping the locking lugs.

I have built a 6mmBR on a Rem700 twice and once on a Sav 99.
One Rem 700 was with a sniper stock and Krieger bull barrel... very heavy
The other Rem 700 was with a Bansner stock and pacnor barrel... light as I could make it.

None were as fancy as yours.
And my pics are not as good either.
Did you have the firing pin turned and bushed?
