They also have it in blue steel. Check out the site. I love everything about it except the price.

I think Ruger is trying to compete with some of Smith and Wesson's "tactical" models. Up until now, there hasn't been anything short of a custom to compete with some of Smith's added "features".

Somehow, for well over a century, police officers and soldiers throughout the world managed to do their jobs with plain Jane non "tactical" revolvers.

Wonder how they managed, myself included?

I actually like the looks of it and I am not a big double action Ruger fan. Seems a bit pricey for what it is unless I missed some uber upgrade in the wall-O-text description. Not sure I would call any revolver "tactical". And there is absolutely nothing "tactical" about that holster...

I would call the S&W TRR8 and the Chiappa Rhino tactical. This? Nope.

What is tactical about either of those? The only thing remotely "tactical" on those two revolvers is some Picatinny rail. I don't see how a little bit of rail can make a revolver tactical in any way. Especial in light of handguns that are significantly lighter with 2-3 times the capacity and faster and easier to reload. I am fairly hard core revolver shooter and I really struggle to see how a revolver is relevant in a modern tactical context.

As I said I love the weapon except the price. I just initially disregard the “tactical” b s. The “tatical” wording does nothing for me. Market hype. I don’t like tatical. Yawn.

With the Rhino, I just meant the modern black angular looks.

With the TRR8, it was specifically designed for SWAT use in combination with a ballistic shield (more explanation here: http://m.policemag.com/article/1133/smith-wesson-327-trr8-revolver). It's even right there in the name, Tactical Rail Revolver 8 shot.

I don't think it matters whether or not something is "tactical" so long as it works. But whatever "tactical" means, the TRR8 qualifies.
