Excellent!

I have that very same revolver. Got it in a trade several years ago. Absolutely love that gun. Easy to carry, accurate and even full power .357 loads are easy to shoot.

Nice! I have a stainless one with the 4” barrel, it’s a great shooter. I’d love to have a short barrel as a companion.

Very clean looking Security Six you've got there! Seem to recall seeing more of those with the 2 3/4" barrels in stainless steel rather than blued. Great gun! Enjoy!

Collectible gun, I'd carry it daily and shoot the hell out of it.
When the time comes decades down the road, and your children and grandchildren are going through your things, I think they would cherish your worn and carried Security Six, imprinted with your personality, more than inheriting a yet another safe queen...even if pristine.
These guns were made to be used. You, your children and your grandchildren won't ever wear it out!

Prices on these are catching up to GP100's FAST.

A stainless 6" is on my short list, but I need to save money right now. I wouldn't be opposed to rest of the Six series if the price was right, although that's unlikely these days.

I hate these threads because people always brag about how cheap they got them yesteryear. "Yeah, I traded a cold Pepsi for mine. I was thirsty all afternoon, but it was probably worth it!"

Thanks for the kind words.

I wish Ruger still supported this series but word is this was not a profitable model series. That’s ironic, you build something that lasts and it’s not profitable

That's the way we've become in the USA. Buy it cheap several times over.
I had a chance to buy a Security Six once, but opted for a Colt Trooper, 1964 build. Wished I had the cash for both.

I picked up one just like yours about 4 years ago for $175 at a gun show. I walked pass the table it was on a few times. There was no price tag showing and I just knew the the seller was going to be asking top dollar. So on the third or forth time walking by the table I stopped and asked to look at it. I was shocked to see the yellow sticker on the side of the gun marked $175. I was more then happy to buy it for the asking price.
It had the small grips on it, but I was able to pick up some Italian copies of the larger Ruger grips from CDNN. It's a great shooter.

I had one of the same vintage, only 4 inch barrel and stainless. It would jam up tight for no reason at times. Least reliable revolver I have ever seen.:uhoh:

I learned to shoot on the S&W 19, and was a K-frame fan for a long time. In the past couple years though, I have just about switched over 100% to the Security-Six. The K-frame was pretty reliable but there were the odd hiccups here and there, like gas ring issues and broken firing pins, or the action binding up with fouling after a lot of shooting. The Ruger on the other hand just keeps on going no matter what. You will be happy with that revolver for sure.

Wish I could find a gun show like that!!

Round these parts, you'd ask the dealer how much and they'd say something like "Nine-hundred, firm" for such a gun!!

Don't give up without checking; several years ago I sent my Speed Six in, they did have limited parts available, but had the springs I needed.
