I just got back from my FFL guy with my latest revolver, a 4" SS Security Six. It came with original Ruger rubber grips with the emblem and a extra set of Houges that I wasn't expecting.:) Overall excellent condition with very little use. I got it for $165 plus shipping plus FFL fees, it came to $210 total!

I also have a Speed Six so now I am on the lookout for a Service Six to round out my Six series collection.:D

excellent i pick up a police six for 230 today like new wasnt even planing on buy guns today was going to pick up some reloading stuff and it followed me home 4 " stainless. Can with ankle holster and speed strips. Now i need the other sixs to make a collection

I still don't know what Ruger was thinking when they discontinued the Security/Service Six line of revolvers. They are so much handier than the GP100.

I always wanted a Security Six cause I thought they looked so pretty. Have to see if I can dig one up at the gun show. Nice find.

Congrats on your Single Six!

They look like a smaller Redhawk in single action.

Marshall,
Is that your's? That looks like mine except I don't have a red insert in my front sight. Mine came with the same Ruger rubber grips that your's has. I was surprised because I didn't know Ruger made rubber grips for their Six Series.

On closer inspection, I think my Security Six was only shot a few times and only with .38 spls and may a couple of 357 mags. It was made in 1980 which makes it 24 years old! How can a gun be 24 years old and never been shot more than a few times? I know it is a least a 2 owner gun because the guy I bought it from said he never fired it and didn't know if it worked. He got it from his friend. It works fine, I am not even sure it is broken in yet!

Nooo, that's not mine. I copped the pic from an auction site while looking at them, I was curious as to the condition in relation to prices they were going for. Believe it or not, it's not as rare as you may think to find all kinds of different gun that are old and only been fired a few times.

I bought a Model 13 Smith a few months back that is 99%+ and fired maybe 2-3 cylinders full. The man didn't like the .357 Mag's kick and filed it away all lubed up and wiped it down every couple of years. He never considered firing .38's thru it. I bought it for a $100.00 dollar bill.

Nice deal! Every once in a while something like that pops up but you have to jump on it or it is gone.

Glad you got yours! Better deal than mine, too - although if you had my FFL you would have paid less... :D

Be smarter than me, and make sure the ejection rod is tight before shooting it  :banghead:

That was the first thing I checked.;) It is tight and I can't move it so I am not worried.

I got to shoot it on Sunday. It shot well after I got used to it. My first group was about 4" high and about 5" in dia. After I settled down, I was keeping all my shots in the 2" bull from 10 yards. I was not really shooting for accuracy, just getting to know the gun and seeing if I had to adjust anything. Seems fine. It has a hitch in the SA trigger that doesn't help accuracy much but it will probably either smooth out on it's own or I can look at the parts and maybe remove a burr or something.

As much as I like Ruger revolvers, they are not as refined or easy to shoot accuractly as a good S&W. My S&W 19-3 was shooting just as well as the Ruger but with less effort on my part. I didn't have to do much to get the S&W to hit. It has a super SA trigger so it helps me do better.

Would I say that S&W is better than Ruger? No. They are different guns even though they look the same. The Ruger is much more rugged and trouble free than any S&W. S&W is a fine gun but it is fragile compared to a Ruger.
