In the knife "collection" drawer of my shop is a well patina'ed vintage Schrade Old Timer Sharpfinger. It seems to always find it's way into my hunting pack pocket during hunting season as that extra/back up knife.
I also recall that way back in the 1970's it seemed like most of the "hippies" and "biker" types in the Pacific NW were carrying one of these as well. (If you see an old one for sale check the lanyard hole for charring.. :scrutiny:) ;)
I know they aren't tactical but they were/are a handy little knife and take a decent edge. The only down side, to me, is that light weight crappy leather sheath that they came with.
Anyone else here a fan..?

I remember my granddad used his a lot on the farm back in the 70's . I had one once , but I lost it somewhere years ago and I will not buy one of the Chinese ones .

I have had one since I was 7. Found it laying in the road near my grandparents house. I would ride my bike to the bridge sitting on the butt of a B.B. gun, and I would spend my time taking out water snakes and fathead chubs. It certainly helped me develop a good rifle shot...but one day the knife was laying in the road like it had fallen out of a truck. Had a phone number scratched onto the sheath, nobody answered and nobody returned the call after I left a message. It’s seen at least 30 deer and untold small game since then.

I have an old one I bought in the 70's, but I can't say I'm a big fan of them...

It doesn't look new anymore, so I must have used/carried it at some point.

I actually sent Sonny Barger an older one that was engraved Harley Davidson tribute from the 70s. He liked it as he featured it in a novel he wrote Apparently bikers in the 70s dug them.

He had already written the novel and that's why I sent it to some one in AZ. That saw him frequently.

I once admired the shape of the blade shape and overall size but since I don't do much caping after I shoot an animal, I can't figure out what use one for. A drop point, Kephardt or Nesmuk handles my slaughtering tasks unless I'm fishing or rabbit hunting where a Gerber Pixie seems to do well.
None of which might do well in a biker standoff... so I'll keep that in mind.
