After waiting for 3 months with it in Lay-away.
And giving up smoking so I could afford it.
I am now the owner of a brand new Springfield V-10 ultra compact
Bi-Tone 45 ACP.
Giving up a 3 pack a day habit is the hardest thing I have ever tried to do,
But I think it was worth it.
I shot 12 rounds out of it last night just to see if it was going to function right. It did, and I even hit the target(spraypaint can) from 10 yards.
After I go to the range today I'll post a range report and some pics if anyone can handle my Disjointed writing style:rolleyes:

Congrats on both!

Enjoy your new addition.

Definitely let us know how things went at the range. My son wants an Ultra Compact for his 21st birthday.

Range Report

I went out to the range with 200 rounds and came home with none.
50 rounds of 230 gr.FMJ Blazer Brass, 3.5" 6 round groups @ 25yrds
50 rounds of 230 gr. FMJ Blazer Alum. 4" 6 round groups@ 25yds
100 rounds 230 gr win.(value pac from WallMart) 3.5" 6 round groups@25yds.
All shooting was done from a standing Weaver Stance or leaning my elbows on a railing for a suport.
I gave it a quick clean up at 50 rounds to see how bad it was getting then
shot the rest of my ammo with breaks to shoot my Ruger 22-45 after
every 20 rounds or so.
I know I can get better groups than I did but I didn't have a rest available.
The best thing about the day was that I had NO problems at all with the gun, chambered, fired & ejected all the rounds without a hitch.
:D I'm a very happy camper!!:D

Good job giving up the evil weed! Think of all the bucks you are gonna save!!! Congrats on your new baby. Enjoy, life is way too short.

What a good idea! I think I too am gonna stop smoking... I'll just pop along to gun shop after work to see what I can get for the equivalent of 60 Camel mild's per day for one year!

ChopperKen - Double Congratulations!

Let's see:

3 packs per day x $ cost per pack x 30 = how many boxes of ammo per month?

Happy shooting. How's the recoil on that thing?

Wow!

Congratulations!

Oh yes, and congratulations on your nice new pistol too! ;)

What kind of defensive fodder are you planning to feed that?

Congrats Chopper!

3 packs a day @ current cigarette prices would equate to enough ammo and targets to go to the range every day.

Enjoy!

Congratulations on taking two very good steps to keep yourself alive longer!:D

As for defensive fodder, I've read in several threads here that the heavy stuff, IE: 230grn Hydra-Shoks, dosen't work so good in the short barreled autos. Not enough velocity to expand supposedly.

I know one person who swears be the 185grn +P Remington Golden Sabers, and another who loves the 200grn +P Speer Gold Dots. I have become a fan of the Rem. GS in all my handguns. I carry the 165grn .40s in my Beretta 96 as my primary CCW piece.

Once again, congrats!

I don't know if it would be cheaper for me to buy cigarettes or ammo.....I think I burn ammo faster than I could smoke a pack of cigarettes.......but it is soooo worth it!

Nathan Alexander,

The trigger looks like an STI Titanium trigger, they're available from Brownells for about $26.00 or so.

Thanks Guys,
I've had my 1911 for over 3 months now and have fed it whitebox winchester feed for practice with no problems.
For when it's under the pillow it gets win. 230 gr. jhp's
I've put over 600 rounds downrange so far andI havent had any problems with it. I think I'll keep it and name it George.
:D
