Last month Austin and I stopped by Aklys Defense. Austin has an interest in AKs so I thought he would like to put his hands on one that not many people have even seen.
The Velociraptor is an integrally suppressed AK. They have 4 prototypes and Austin was able to play with one.

Joe told Austin that they were still working on the shape of the front end.

Austin also got to look at a few other guns like a suppressed 9mm bolt action.

Gunny seems like you’re raising a fine young man, but tell him his head is on backwards!

I used to tell the kids on my son’s baseball team that when they wore their caps like Austin. The looks were a lot of fun.

So I guess if he’s catching or shooting he’s ok. Otherwise due for some ribbing!

Gunny, what make is that 9mm bolt? I've been wanting one for some time now, living here in the PRNY, where any mag fed semi-auto pcc is considered this side of unholy.

When I was about 11 I got a wakeup call. I grew up in a very diverse community and that encompasses many races, many “social classes” and many many walks of life. I showed up to basketball practice with my hat on backwards, as did a few other kids. The speech we got from a gentleman (who didn’t look like any of us, who had 1 leg, and was riding a motorcycle, to be our coach because he apparently liked dealing with jerk kids at that age range) was (in drill instructor tone and cadence) “dammit boy you put that hat on your head right, your daddy works for a living and I do too, we ain’t having that crap on this basketball team. Your here to play ball, not to embarass the ones trying to do something for ya”. I think we lost 1 game that year, and it was an overtime loss in tournament play. Thanks for somehow taking my mind back to Mr Majors.

It’s a Rock Island Armory TCM.

He wears it to the front but turned s it around when handling firearms.
I like his shirt. The AK intrigues me.
That’s my t-shirt. Both of my boys keep snagging my shirts.:cuss:

Was he in the middle of dry firing? Might have to get on him about trigger discipline...

I'd love to shoot something suppressed some time.

That AK suppressor looks like a Salvo-12 clone, with modular baffles. Does it make the gun front heavy?

The extra freight on the muzzle cost about as much or more as the rifle itself. Is it worth it for that caliber? Hmmm, what are they asking for the piece????

It's really not front heavy.

The MSRP is $4285 but if pre ordered you can save a bunch. here is more info on the gun.

I'm not an AK fan. I think they are good guns and have there place in combat. But most of the AKs in the US are made up from used parts. And the good ones made in the US are way over priced. Now is there a need for an Integrally Suppressed AK?

At that price, the need would have to be significant!
Similar situation: I don't need a 12g suppressor but since I got one free of charge, I took it. Otherwise it would have cost around £400.

Look at the first two pics, just to the right behind Austin, there is a suppressed Kel-Tec KSG.

It’s a Rock Island
Mmmmm, interesting. Had never heard of this gun before- I might be on board if RIA offered a factory 9mm quick-change kit like they do with the .22TCM pistols, but for now the rifle is only available in their proprietary caliber, so I'm out.

I emailed them that I'll get my wallet out if they came with a 20" TCM and a 16" 9mm barrel- time will tell.

Man, is that AK fugly! But doing an integral does mitigate the blast from the gas system. Of course, one could just start with an AR that doesn't have that problem to begin with.

I hadn't seen that little Rock Island before. I had considered doing a bolt action 9mm build to eliminate port noise when running suppressed, but will probably go with lever delayed blowback semi auto system. If I can find the time to do another scratch build, that is.
