Conversion cylinder in .32 S&W.

413963370.jpg

This is a feature I can't find in current descriptions of this type cylinder. This isn't a "3", it's a badly struck "S" and...

...180 degrees out, there is an extra locking bolt recess---a safety. Placing the nose of the hammer on the "S" locks the hammer between chambers.

Previous owner shot it with .32 S&W, but seems to have abandoned the pistol very quickly---the CN date code is what...2017?

I have an older one and the no longer made 6 shot conversion cylinder. Shoot .32 S&W in the conversion cylinder. I will have to load some black powder cartridge loads one of these days. The overall length of a loaded .32 S&W LRN is the length as a .32 S&W long empty brass and with a 100gn wadcutter seated flush the powder volume area is roughly the same as a .32 S&W LRN so with BP I should be ok doing this. Much easier and cheaper to find .32 S&W long brass than .32 S&W brass.

"The overall length of a loaded .32 S&W LRN is the length as a .32 S&W long empty brass..."

The cylinder I have here has a very pronounced step in the chambers and will not allow entry of the S&W Long case.
I have 100 rounds of the regular .32 S&W and considering how the conversion loads, I believe 100 rounds will be a lifetime supply---unless I can get away with shooting in my basement.
Besides, I also have 5 pounds of Hornady 00 Buckshot which is just the right size for the C&B cylinder.

You could just trim the "long" cases to "regular" length.

I had to do something similar when I made blank .44-40 cartridges for my Uberti Henry, for Civil War reenacting. I used .444 Marlin cases, trimmed them to the length of a .44-40 bulleted cartridge, and ran them through a .44-40 sizing die. (This was necessary because .44-40 cases, loaded as blanks, are too short and won't feed through the gun.)

Or make a black powder .32 ACP handload, if the brass and the firing pin are copacetic to work in the cylinder. I've yet to have a problem shooting .32 ACP in my .32 revolvers, but in my .327 Henry the .32 ACP the rim is too thin.

I don't much like my avatar being used as someone else's avatar. It would be different if I used some random photograph off the web, but that isn't the case here.

well to hopefuly save friendship I took it down but I did like it very much so I could maybe get myself a monkey stuffed one at that and make a pic like that with me in it lol if that doesn't upset you

Here I reload some S&W .32 and talk about the .32 S&W long and the .32 ACP

I have a Pietta in the Remy pocket. The ball load is passable close in, the 32 with the conversion cylinder abysmal. Been at Goons for a few months for repairs, when it returns it will go on the forums for sale or trade
It’s not missed, suffers, IMO, the same as trying to shoot a 357 bullet in a 36 caliber cap and ball with a 38 special conversion cylinder.
