Back in the day, around 20 years ago, I carried a S&W 4506 on the job. Yes, it was heavy - because it is all stainless steel construction.
And it is bet your life reliable and shoots like a laser. And it was highly visible too. In the holster and out. Many a miscreant ceased his anti social activity after the mighty 4506 was pulled and pointed in his direction.
I was given my 4506-1 upon retirement. It now resides on my night stand and is carried regularly during cooler weather. The weight never bothered me. I use a good gunbelt with an Aker flatsider holster. And isnt 41 ounces what the vaunted 1911 weighs?
Any other fans of this fine 45 here?
