Very Upset with Ruger

I had almost warmed back up to Ruger after years of shunning them. But then stories like this and the problems with the 22/45 I've had.
 
I see the point of the person who posted the thread. Its not how well the company handles problems, there comes a point where its not how they are handled, its the fact that there are too many problems. I don't want to call a company and explain, then box up a rifle or pistol, drive to UPS, and then wait for a repair. Then wait for it to return and have to drive to UPS or whatever again to sign for a firearm. Royal pain in the behind. Same thing with everything else I buy. Sure they will make it right, but it still costs me.
 
Well they received the gun last Wednesday, I was hoping to hear that the gun may at least be shipped by the end of the week but they just sent an email that the gun has been assigned to a technician for servicing, don't know of that means they just had the gun sit there a couple of days or not before starting on it. Hopefully the repairs are done fast.

Sure sad to hear that about Ruger, I've had problems with some; small mouths on cylinders, rough edges, etc, but never anything serious and always excellent customer service.
 
While every company can have problems it seems Ruger is having more than usual. Where is old-man Ruger when you need him?
It's possible their catalog has expanded so much and so fast QC is suffering. Add the fact they raised their prices on DA revolvers to match S&W dollar for dollar, well let's say they removed one of the motivations to buy Ruger.

Just a note, I'm not married to any company and I own and shoot many Ruger products. I'm not bashing Ruger.
 
Smith and Wesson had QC problems with their top of the line pistols in the 80s.

Ruger has had them before. I finally got rid of a Mini-14 after they unsuccessfully tried to "fix" it.

A bummer, but it happens to all of them eventually.

That a good point,kinda like spreading themselves too thin and not focusing on their key products. To busy being the latest and greatest. It's great to see new innovative products. But at what cost? Companies theses days almost have to constantly come out with new things if they want to bring in the buissness. But it is not an excuse to let QC.

Don’t worry Ruger will make it right. I bought a Ruger 45acp/45 last year and had to send it back trice,but now it’s my favorite everyday carry gun.I pair it up with a Rossi 45 carbine .It took awhile to work up a good reload for them.250 XTP’S over a very warm pinch of H 110 the Redhawk shoots better than my Blackhawk 45 convertible with 45colt ,but not 45acp. I just think of the 45acp as my nightstand loads like having a speed loader.
 
I haven't had any issues with either of my LCP's or the .45 ACP/Colt Redhawk. The only thing I can say is during shooting with .45 ACP once the hammer would not go back into single action and the cylinder locked up, I think it was an issue with the moon clip not the revolver. Either I didn't seat the clip properly in the cylinder or it had been warped somehow.
 
All my Rugers are from 1995-1997 . I feel that the Ruger of today has bad Quality Control. However, the Customer service /repair department is excellent.
I had my P94 pistol fixed there and they went above and beyond to make me happy and charged me zero dollars.

2 Rugers in one year both needing to go back to the factory makes me inclined to agree with you.
 
I have had many Rugers go back.I had a SR22 go back twice, a LC9s once. I had my LCR go back twice.About 4 or 5 LCP's sent back and two replaced. The good news, is they are stood by their product and took care of the problem, and shipping to and from the shop for repair or replacement has always been very quick. The LCR is IMO a great gun, thousands of rounds down range and really the only problem was the coating on the cylinders. Started to wear off, send it in and it started to wear off again. Finally they completely redid the cylinder with a new coating.Actually turned out well as the new coating is much nicer, looks like my LCR22.

The SR9C runs and runs. One of the better guns I believe Ruger makes.

I wonder if Herrett's could be talked into making a set. They make them for the square butt models and I had a set on a Redhawk I used to own.
 
Bought a 38/357 BH about 2 yrs. ago. Base pin wouldn't come out without a fight. Called Ruger and explained the situation and the gal thought it might be the pin. Sent me a new one pronto. That fixed the problem. Excellent CS
