The Original Redhawk 357

Spend a little more and get the new 8 shot version. Never could understand the attraction of the 6 shot version.
The attraction IS the very impracticality of it, lol.

Also, if you are not a fan of MIM, or two-peice barrels, then the older gun is right for you- indeed, some (like me), believe the overall quality of the older Rugers was better than those made since Bill Sr. passed.

The 8-shot it still a nice gun, especially if you like moon clips. I wouldn't mind finding one of those as well, at some point.

RedHawks rule! :)

I though about getting the 22lr 10 shot Gp100 but I couldn't see why I'd prefer it over my MKII. Same weight but the MKII is easier to carry and reload. I though about getting the 7 shot 357mag GP100 too but the extraction issues have stopped me. An 8 shot 357mag revolver is just cool and a great home defense revolver too. I'll have one as soon a Ruger releases the SRH version :)

If you subscribe to the thought the Redhawk is too heavy and too big for .357mag, adding two more shots doesn’t fix the impracticality.

Now, if you’re a guy who wants a lot more speed on a 38cal bullet than which can be safely delivered from a GP100 or 8 shot Redhawk, the original Redhawk .357mag makes a lot more sense than the new one.

The 8-shot makes a lot more sense if you want to try you hand at some USPSA Revolver division. Minor Power factor in a Redhawk would be like 22 Shorts in a 22 LR revolver.
