Any Ruger Mark Pistol Owners?

I had one years ago, and let it get away from me. I bought a MK II about 40 years ago, and still have it. I eventually put a bull barrel and adjustable sights on it and had some trigger work done.

I had one very much like that for many years. It was a great little shooter, but I finally decided to upgrade to a Mark IV.

Huh? Any owners? Pretty sure that a majority of the older owners of Rugers (at least) have had or currently own one.
Mine is a Mark 1 from 1972, which helped me get the "Distinguished Expert" award from the NRA, while competing against people who had auto's worth four times as much.
Still shoot mine, which has had 50,000 rounds thru it, at least. Still in like-new condition, also. Solid as a rock.

I currently have a Mark III in stainless with the 5" heavy barrel, had 2 Mark III's prior to this one. I plan on ordering Volquartsen the Volquartsen trigger set for it. My first experience with the Ruger was the Mark 1 that a friend owned and I really liked it, fun to shoot. My only complaint with the first 3 models is the pain in the posterior process of putting it back together again. Maybe a Mark IV is in the future.

I've owned a few over the years. As my financial situation went up and down they somehow slipped away.
My current model is a 22/45 Mark III. Except for the poly frame its just like every other one I ever had.
Its scary accurate with the TRS25 red dot. I hit a ground hog with it at 30 yards in the ditch in front of my house. My nephew hit a 1" wide metal fence post with it 5 out of 10 shots at 25 yards
Its dependable with never a fail to do anything.

Still got my Mk1 purchased new in 1972. Its the 6 inch target model, I don't shoot small caliber very often, but when I do, it gets some decent range time. Still as accurate as ever, and never a mechanical problem in over 40 years! The Mark 1s were really well built. Wont ever part with mine!!!!!

Had quite a few Mk.II 5 1/2" bull barrel models over the years but when I saw this one at a gun show I just had to have it (I believe it was part of a limited run of 2000 pistols for Outdoor Sports). The dealer also had a Ruger Single Six Bisley with the same blued frame and polished stainless steel grip frame configuration (it was also the same price as the Mk.II). I thought about it but only had enough money for one of them and so I went with the Mk.II. More than glad that I did as it is a real tack driver with Wolf Match Target ammo.

Two here. MK III 22/45 lite, the blue gill gun. Also a MK IV Target. They have several upgrades to each. Very accurate guns..

How are you doing, SGW Gunsmith? I hadn't seen anything until now from you since you left that other forum.

I have a Mk-II, bought new in 1987, weeks after I found out how expensive it was to shoot the ammo for my first handgun, a .357 revolver. It's in "standard" configuration, with the 4.75-inch tapered barrel and fixed sights. Excellently-built gun; thousands of rounds have gone through it over the decades. I don't remember actually cleaning it ore than a time or two.

A couple of years back, I came across another Mk-II, in bull-barreled "target" configuration (5.5-inch barrel, and adjustable rear sight) and bought it. Admittedly, I have yet to shoot it.

I'm pretty much a fan of the Ruger Mark pistols. My very first Ruger .22 is this A54 grip frame Standard:

My dad had to sign for it mas I wasn't hold enough to do that. Still have it and still shoot it now and then.
Horrible pic, but here's my '54 Standard:

I have them all -- the Mark I, II, III, and IV. All with 5 1/2" bull barrels, and all of which I bought new.

All but the Mark I needed serious tinkering to lighten the trigger pull, and get rid of unwanted features such as the magazine disconnect.

At one point I decided to change the factory grips to walnut. No problem finding Ruger walnut grips for the Mark I and Mark II, but for the Mark III, I had to alter a set of Mark II grips. For the Mark IV, it proved impossible to find factory walnut grips that would be consistent with the previous ones.(Laminates are just not the same as solid walnut.) After trying several things, I went back to the plastic grips for the whole series.

Mine is a Standard 6" barrel and fixed sights bought new in 1967. It has taken many squirrels, rabbits and a few quail and a coyote. It's still my go-to pistol when hunting small game.
